Does anybody know if it's been stated whether the free content WotC put out over the past few months will always be free? I haven't looked at the content yet, but I also don't want to miss out. I see there's some kids stuff on there I might have to check out for my youngins.

Please, for the love of the gods, tell me how am I to balance DnD with the family and my son's travel hockey? HALP!
The unearthed arcana (UA) is only free during its playtest period (about a year). After that it is either archived or published in a book that you need to pay for. You are welcome to re-create it as private homebrew if you want though.
For non UA free content, if you can be more specific, I can probably tell you more about it.
I knew I shoulda grabbed it when I first learned about it, but c'est la vie. Will get what I can now. Thanks for your timely and informative responses!

Yeah, I tapped into archives hoping it was still there and I found a dozen or so adventures/backgrounds and the like. Should nab some coloring pages for the kids.

No, it won't always be free. Some already have been removed, with the exception of the drawings and zoom backgrounds.
I also think that they no longer are doing anymore free at home content.

Last week they went to three days a week, and nothing this week so far - I wonder if that was it? Definitely get it asap.
Frankly it's been amazing to get some of those backgrounds, and the Wild Sheep Chase module from last week is a personal fave :)

It was nice while it lasted. Nice benefit after years of paying into D&D.
Most of it is still available if you go to the free material archive.
