I love the game,i love tasha for the much needed love it brought, many great classes and items were added,i am happy,so perhaps in the future i dream of seeing more dragon themed content and fixes. Such as:
A. Dragonborn love: seriously this race needs a boost, the only things it gets are weak and compared to everyone else the seem...lacking,why not give them love like the goliaths got? Add them more features that they REALLY NEED. And for the love of bahamut, the breath weapon is bad.
B.More dragon themed classes! Like:
Wyrmspeaker druid!, harness the power of dragons! Transform into one yourself through old magic!
Dragon patron! For warlocks!,i mean its as classic as it gets!
To name a few!
C.TRUE POLYMORPH TO SORCERERS!
SERIOUSLY! how come the sorcerer with draconic power that courses through his veins cant fully tap into it and become a dragon, but the warlock can? Or the damned wizard? Seriously? Why??? I need answers!!!
I have actually homebrewed some of these for my games! Dragonborn get their breath weapon back on a short rest and it’s only a bonus action. I had a druid who’s backstory was she came from a cult centered around the last living green dragon (well, they thought it was the last one) and could use 2 uses of wild shape to turn into a smaller dragon and other dragon related things.
Based on the most recent Unearthed Arcana and a certain dropped lawsuit (which opens the way for a new Dragonlance book), it seems very likely you'll be getting your wish soon. At least about more dragon-themed content.
I agree. Dragonborn are the coolest race, but their stat block just doesn't live up to their awesomeness. I mean, damage resistance is pretty sweet, but if it were my table I would make two little changes.
First, you get bonus proficiency in either Persuasion or Intimidation. Second, your breath weapon does a number of d6's equal to your proficiency bonus, and you can use your breath weapon a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus (but... you can't use it in two consecutive rounds).
As far as a dragon patron goes, I think Bahamut would be more of the Paladin or War Cleric type, but....
Warlock: Pact of Bahamut
Level 1: Your scales harden, giving you an unarmored AC = 13 + dex mod.
Level 1: You gain proficiency in Persuasion and Intimidation, and you have advantage on Persuasion rolls when dealing with a dragon or dragonkin creature.
Level 6: Breath Weapon: 15’ cone of fire, 4d6 dmg @ level 6, 6d6 @ level 11, 8d6 @ level 16, Dex save for half damage, DC = 8 + your Prof bonus + your Con mod. You may use this once per short or long rest.
Level 10: As an action, you can roar and can cause each creature in a 20-foot cube originating from you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. The creatures that fail their saving throws are all frightened by you until the end of your next turn.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Level 14: Once per short or long rest, as a bonus action, you may manifest a pair of wings, fly speed = 40’, lasts for one hour or until you use an action to end them.
Extended spell list.
The following spells are added to the Warlock spell list for you:
1st - Command , Cure Wounds
2nd - Lesser restoration , Zone of Truth
3rd - Aura of Vitality , Fireball
4th - Aura of Life , Death Ward
5th - Destructive Wave , Greater Restoration.
Damn. Now I have to type all that again into the homebrew thingy. . . .

My sentiments exactly. Nearly all my adventures have a dragon somewhere along the line, whether it be the final boss or a pseudodragon perched on an NPC's shoulder.

Bonus points if the final boss is the pseudodragon perched on an NPC's shoulder....
I would certainly love more Dragons in my Dungeons and Dragons. That’s why I think a proper Draconomicon would be the best solution. It gives those who want Dragon content exactly that while though who don’t want more dragon content can just skip it.
A Draconomicon would allow additional PC races/sub-races, new dragons, dragon themed subclasses, dragon themed magical items and spells, and much more.

Exactly why I'm working on a set of dragons to put up for sale on DM's guild. ALL THE DRAGONS. And why I'm going to try to incorporate the dragons from Kobold Press's Tome of Beasts 1 & 2 into my game. And why I created a draconic domain for clerics. (Which I can't share officially through here but will probably put into something on DM's guild because it has spells from places other than the basic rules.)
A Druid that can shape change into a Dragon or summon a Draconic nature spirit.
A Cleric that follows a dragon deity while bringing back an expanded Draconic pantheon (there are several dragon gods with different ideologies, tenets and domains)
A Paladin that can act as a champion or exemplar to a dragon or dragon deity (would work really well in Eberron considering how the dragons in the world operate. Actually a lot of these classes would work in Eberron considering how vast and diverse the dragons in the world are)
A Warlock with a Dragon patron.
A Fighter that rides a Dragon or is a Dragon slayer (might be a bit too specialized) .
A Bard that uses the Draconic language to create different effects (might be going a little too much into Skyrim territory but still would be cool)
Rogue, Wizard and Artificer I’m stumped on but I’m sure your could make something work.

Rogue who harnesses the power of dragons for more sneak attack opportunities, maybe? Wizard might focus on elemental spells flavored as breath weapons. I got nothing for Artificer.

Hm....maybe the crafting of items using dragon parts or imbuing their creations with Draconic energies? In D&D lore people would harvest almost every part of a dragon to use in crafting and alchemical purposes. Scales for armor, bones for weapons or crushing up for alchemical concoctions. Hearts, eyes, blood, and the sacks used for their breath weapons often times were used for different purposes and experimentations.
Just a thought that came to me right now.

I think the Rogue subclass for a Dragon focused resource would stick with tradition and just be called a "Snack."
But seriously, if we already have Phantoms and Soul Knife's, I could see a Dragon-spired rogue going some similar route.
Here's a thought, Dragon Tribute (Dragon Agent?). This rogue is in league with a dragon or dragon society. It adventures for wondrous and more spectacular magic items and works of art and precious gems and metals. It's subclass features would be a mix of enhanced treasure hunting and deep understanding of the arcane through magics interrelationship with dragon kind. Rough thought over coffee.
I don't know about the Wizard. I suppose there could be some sort of dragonmancy. What would a dragon need a Wizard for? Otherwise I think the inter-relationship between the arcane and dragon kind is more a lore thing than a mechanical feature thing.
For Artficer, I"m thinking some dragon inflected infusions rather than a draconic artificer subclass. Some of the infusions are actually derived from the dragons body (stuff for the armorer), others are the products of deep study of dragon biomechanics and efforts to replicated them for humanoids (flight, breath weapons).

Draconic is traditionally considered one of the great magical languages. Dragons are traditionally very long lived and that means a lot of extra time for things like research of magic theory.
Right, and I think that statement's in line with what I'm trying to say. "Magic" insofar as the arcane practices of wizards is arguably already tied to Dragonkind, like one could say the grammar of Wizards is already draconic or the lexicon follows a draconic declination style. So given what the game already shows of dragons and magic, is there really anything to do with a "dragon" oriented wizard inline with some of the other subclasses in this thread? Is there anything about a dragon's handling of magic different from the way a wizard does, and how would you untap that in a character class. I don't think you can.
And really, while a different manifestation of arcane magic, we have the draconic sorcerer bloodline, so maybe this hypothetical Draconomicon Player's Option book would be a space to try yet again to fix the Sorcerer with one of its original subclasses.
Second thoughts... my game's drake warden experiment will be taking on the summoning beast spells skinned to evoke dragons. I suppose a dragon caster wizard who has some additional facility in summoning "drake magic" similar to the drake warden with the goal to be some sort of dragon rider or dragon polymorphing wizard ... at the same time I don't think that's necessary given what I feel is a connection between Wizards and dragons already.
3 - Your scales harden, giving you a base AC of 13, plus your Dex mod plus your Con mod.
3 - Your claws do 1d6 slashing damage (+Str mod). When you use your action to attack with your claws or a weapon, you may use a bonus action to make a bite attack against that same target. Bite does 1d8 piercing damage (+Str mod).
6 - Your claw and bite attacks do an additional 1d6 damage of your color’s damage type.
10 - While raging, after hitting a target with a claw or weapon attack, you may use a bonus action to make a Fearful Roar. All hostile creatures within a 30’ radius who can hear you must make a Wisdom saving throw. Those who fail are stunned with fear until the end of your next turn. (DC = 8 + your prof bonus + your Cha mod).
14 - While raging, when you are hit by a melee attack, the attacker takes 2d6 damage of your color’s damage type.
Dragonborns should get flight at some level. It’s not too big of an ability for a race. Aarakocra get it at level 1.
I’d say breath weapon should also be more powerful but unlocked at a higher level.
I think there are a good amount of dragons in the Monster Manual, but not much variety. The only differences are CR tiers with wyrmling, young, adult, and ancient; breath weapon damage type and resistances and vulnerabilities; and whether breath weapon is a cone or line. I guess they have different lair actions, but only for adult and ancient.
There are a few off-brand dragons like wyverns and fairy dragons. More of this, please.
