I log into DDB this morning and am immediately struck by something I did not expect. The removal of the proflific authours name from the content he created before his departure. I don' know the story behind his leaving, it does not matter. This seems a petty move on the part of the DDB team that will take up the reigns now that the most visible staff has left, or is leaving. (Yes, I do know that his name is still technically there... but black on black...basically trying to erase the credit for what is arguably the best content on the site other than the actual technical tool.)
If it was unintentional, then have it restored to the red on black, if it was intentional.... then boo on you DDB
thanks for raising it - I noticed it myself this morning.
Usernames on the site are colour-coded for certain roles - red is staff, orange is moderator, blue is Wizards of the Coast, and everyone else is black.
As James has moved on from working for D&D Beyond, his account is no longer flagged as staff, so no longer in red.
There's no intent to hide James' name from the articles - he's an amazing and accomplished writer and deserves the recognition.
On Monday, I'll talk to the relevant people and we'll figure out the best way to resolve this. 😊

I have a suggestion for how you could fix it. You said that red represents staff, orange represents moderator, and that the rest is black. With so many people leaving, it might be a good idea to have former staff and moderators have another color, so that they are still recognized for the stuff they did here, but it is clear they are no longer a staff member of moderator. It's just a suggestion.

Maybe a color, like orange or green, for "Contributors"? Like when Keith Baker wrote his article(s?) on Eberron, I want to say Mercer has something floating around here. And then former staff whose work is still providing a lasting contribution can be transferred over to that hue?

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Ok, then green. Or Purple. Or magenta. You know, a different color.
Negativland once tried to promote a new primary color called Squant , it hasn't really been utilized. Maybe now is the time. My rods and cones and migrating in a way where color, sadly, is becoming less significant, but hopefully there's enough intact to recognize the novelty.

If you look very carefully, you actually can still see the names on the articles on the front page, but yeah, black text on ever-so-slightly-off-black background is very hard to make out.
EDIT: I will pay money to have it be chartreuse. I've got...three pennies and a nickel! =P

Thank you! Suggestion appreciated and it's pretty much what I was going to lead with as a suggested resolution. 😊

I had hoped that this was an oversight. Thank you for the prompt reply. Cheers!
I thought blue was for all “insiders.”

Oh, I forgot about insiders - they're a different blue to the Wizards staff. Yup, plenty of colours already.
We'll come up with a solution!

Orange is Moderators, you don’t want to confuse folks.
