Hi I need your help giving stats to mount for a homebrew tropical setting, Giant Capybara. It’s a fully domesticated capybara the size of horse. It can be used as a riding or pack animal. Thought about using the stats of a riding horse see below but with claws slashing damage instead of hooves bludgeoning.
Well, you are talking about a fantastically oversized version of an IRL giant rodent. Why not start with the giant rat? Or perhaps the 2024 rat instead?
So, having researched IRL capybaras, I hybridized the 5e24 rat and riding horse, made some adjustments based on their propensity for semi aquatic environments (by necessity), and came up with this:
