I'm trying to add the Psi Warrior fighter subclass through a homebrew for personal use and i'm having problems adding the Psionic Energy dice pool. I already know about the Limited Use data and Level Scaling you can add to the actions, but i feel i'm setting it up wrong. Can anyone help me with this?
What makes you think you have done it incorrectly?
Set up a 3rd-level feature named “Psionic Power,” and then attach a “General” action to that feature- Name: “Psionic Power: Psionic Energy;” Activation Type: Special (since it triggers whenever the PC uses an eligible feature); Reset Type: Short Rest; [SAVE]. DDB didn’t actually add the die to this action, however you could if you want to. The likely felt it unnecessary since they needed to add the die to the Psionic Strike action which is also attached to the same Psionic Power feature (as are the Telekinetic Movement and Protective Field actions). After you save, go back and edit the action to [ADD LIMITED USE DATA]- Number of Uses: 2; Use Proficiency Bonus: ☑️; Proficiency Bonus Operator: x (Multiplication); [SAVE] the Limited Use Data, [SAVE] the Action, [SAVE CHANGES] for the feature, [SAVE CHANGES] for the whole subclass.
For the scaling Psionic Energy Die, whichever action(s) you choose to attach it to, it’s super easy- Dice Count: 1; Die Size: d6; [SAVE]. Then edit that action to [ADD A LEVEL OVERRIDE] (actually you’ll have to add three)- Level: 5; Die Size: d8; [SAVE]. (The other two would be 11 & d10, and 17 & d12, just like in the UA version.) Again, as always, [SAVE] the Action, [SAVE CHANGES] for the feature, [SAVE CHANGES] for the whole subclass.
Once you have saved the entire subclass for what you think is the final time, give the system 20 minutes before checking things on a character sheet.
Don’t bother copying the class feature description into all of the actions, it’s unnecessary. Just do the snippets so they display on the character sheet, if there is no description attached to an action the sidebar will automatically display the description from the main feature itself.
Whenever you copy/paste from anywhere into the homebrewer, past it into a snippet field first to scrub any potential errant formatting, then copy that and paste it into the description field.

I hope that helps.
