I may have forgotten if DNDBeyond had said who owns any of our creations, If they did sorry for the redundancy.
I found myself curious since DNDBeyond seems to be a good source to outsource play testing alongside other avenues. But Legal issue always come up when it comes to creative endeavors, so here we are.
Lets say, I had aspirations to create 3rd party content like Kobold Press - could I include any of my posted Homebrew creations in the books I publish. Or would I have to jump through a boatload of legal shenanigans to ever include my creations in my published Book content - like what happened to Matt Mercer's Gunslinger for the DM's Guild? Where, by how I understand it, he couldn't include the subclass his own published material since the DM's Guild owned the publishing rights for the longest time.
Does DnDBeyond have any form of legal ownership of our creations including publishing rights? Is our created content, owned by some form of Creative Commons, and how far does that extend? or is it (which I doubt) the wild west!?
