So one of my player, want to play a humanoid dog race. I told him to take one of the race feature that he think is suitable to be use for his character. He pick Kobold out of all races because of the pack tactics. We discuss a little bit, since Kobold is small race and dwell in the dark place only, we make a lot of tweak.
Canine Race Ability Scores. Dex +2; +1 to either Int, Wis or Cha Size. Medium Speed. 30 ft. Age. have lifespans equivalent to humans. Alignment. - Size. average humans size, but some might be taller and some might be shorter. Your size is Medium. Hunter Sense. You have proficiency in the Perception and you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception), Wisdom (Survival), and Intelligence (Investigation) checks that involve smell. Bite. Your fang is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. Pack Hunts. You have advantage on the first attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated. Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
So what do you guys think? Is it still Overpower (OP) or Underpower (UP)?
If it is OP or UP, I just told my player to take Tabaxi feature instead 😅
Yes, it is still overpowered. You have a +2 to both Str and Dex. That’s OP right there. One of those should be dropped to a +1, or better yet, add Wis or Cha to the list and drop three of them to +1.
Also, probably drop the claws but keep the bite attack. And drop darkvision and replace it with proficiency in Perception, and advantage to Perception checks relying on scent.

Ah yah, the +2 Str was typing mistake, I want to make it +1, LoL
I think dog is smart, so I will put +1 Int instead, and add advantage one perception, survival and investigation with smell.
