Ok as the title says, I am trying to add additional damage dice at higher levels for a home brew spell. See below for an example:
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th or higher level, the poison damage increases by 1d6 and the radius increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 4th.
The problem is, the home brew spell creation process does not do a good job telling you how to do this. Can anyone help?
Sure thing. Check the ”At Higher Level Scaling” box, and set the “Higher Level Scaling Type” to “spell scale.” Then, at the bottom of the form in the “At Higher Levels” section you click the [Add A Higher Level] button. When the page refreshes on the ew form, set the “SCALING LEVEL VALUE” to 1, select the damage roll under “MODIFIER TO SCALE,” under “SCALE EFFECT” select “Additional Points,” under “DICE COUNT” enter 1, under “DYE TYPE” select “d6,” then [SAVE]. After that you would again hit the [Add A Higher Level] button and this time again enter 1 as the “SCALING LEVEL VALUE,” skip he modifier and under “SCALE EFFECT” select “Extended Area,” and under “FIXED VALUE” enter “5” and [SAVE]. Then re-save the whole spell again. Give the system some time to update, about 20ish minutes, and you should be good to go.
