I've created a homebrew longsword from our paper campaign, and it is in my dndbeyond collection but not published (I don't want to publish it to the entire community). How do I add it to my character? I click on manage equipment but it does not show up. Is the only way to add the item to publish it to the entire community?
I am having the same problem, created an item but can't add it to a character. Also tried adding the character to a campaign but still can't equip a created item

After a bit of testing we discovered that the ability to use your own homebrew in your characters has not been unlocked for users yet. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the fast reply. Any idea when that unlocks? Thanks! :)

Nope! But I imagine it'll be very soon. (It'll need testing before live for sure)
BUMP - Please Help! - Yes, this is happening to over half of my characters right now. - Most of my characters (and all of the players in my two campaigns) can not get access to my Homebrew Magic Items that I created.
First: Every single one of my characters has the toggle "Homebrew Content - Allow custom content to be used for this character" to YES. So I am giving ALL of my characters permission to access Homewbrew content.
Second: I currently have SEVEN characters in DnD Beyond that I "own" on my account. I found out today that FIVE of them DO ALLOW ME to locate my homewbrew items in my Inventory Management screen (all of my homebrew items) while TWO of the characters do NOT give me access (could not find ANY of my homebrew items)
Third: I am DM for two campaigns and tried to use my PLAYER'S characters (all belong to other DnDBeyond players) to find my homebrew items (I am sharing content with them on my campaigns) and NONE of them have access to my Homebrew Items either...
Fourth: I created extra, temporary characters in my campaigns AND solo... and no matter what, I can not seem to get any NEW characters to get access to my Homebrew Items
Fifth: I created a couple NEW, temporary homebrew items.... same results as all of my "older" homebrew items... five of my older characters can find the items, none of the newer characters and none of the other players can find my items.
(1) Link to a character that I made inside of one of my Campaign groups. This character can NOT seem to locate any of my Homebrew items in their "manage equipment" window.
(2) Link to one of my Homebrew items. (The character above.... and half of my characters can NOT see this item.... But SOME of my characters CAN see this item.)
I had a look at that character and the reason it can't see the homebrew equipment is because the toggle for "homebrew content" is set to off on the options page for the character. If you click this to turn the toggle to on, the character will be able to use homebrew.

As long as it's in your private collection you should be able to search for it in the manage equipment lists. Shouldn't need to publish at all.EDIT: Apparently even mods forget stuff sometimes. You may need to create a campaign and add your character to that campaign to use the item. :)

Any suggestions? Am I missing something basic?

The thread you've bumped is discussing an issue that occurred on the original version of the character sheet, which is no longer available.
That sounds like an odd problem though .... can you please link here, so a moderator can take a look:
You don't need to publish the homebrew for a moderator to be able to view it from a link.

@Stormknight, Thanks.
Here are two links:

(2) Link to one of my Homebrew items. (The character above.... and half of my characters can NOT see this item.... But SOME of my characters CAN see this item.)
(Maybe I'm just missing something simple????)
