They are able to learn any and all spells they have seen before allowing them to cast it as their own though adding it to their available spells list as if it was naturally their own. however you must have appropriate spell slots to cast known spells through this trait.
It's for a custom race with no asi as a balancing measure. I'm trying to keep it as close to this as possible. I understand it could be alittle broken to allow. Hence why I'm asking for some balancing ideas. The race is meant to be a a hive mind android base so able to analyze it
The immediate problem that comes to mind is that an 18th level Wizard would be able to cast Cure Wounds or Healing Word an infinite number of times.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Fair point, but considering the same thing can be done with a multiclass and your still spending spell slots it would have the same equivalence as a cleric. Definitely not infinite and due to beyonds limitations it's locked to original levels for the spells learned so no upcasts. My dms okay with it as is, however I'm more trying to balance the cost of it if I decided to post it. I'm not one to abuse this type of stuff.
They can know one spell they've seen at a time, and it must be on their class spell list. If they see a new one and want to learn it, they forget the old one. A spell learned this way can be cast once per day. Use the limitation as a lore opportunity. Maybe their long term memory storage banks have become corrupted or something.
I recommend against trying to balance really good traits with a penalty like no ASIs. For one thing it encourages players to min-max away the penalty. For another it is likely to have side-effects. One of them is that ASIs are just basic character progression rewards when you level up. Getting nothing at level 4 makes it hard to be excited about level 4. It also changes the pros/cons of multiclassing. Anyway, something like the above I think could be used without messing with ASIs.
