I am trying to make a custom version of the Instrument of the Bards for a player. I added some spells from one of the options (Fuchlucan Bandore) and a bunch of other ones as well. I wanted the all the spells to show up in her spell list with a single use per day (or 1 charge) so I added spells in the appropriate section.
For each spell I gave them min/max 1/1 charge.
So far so good.
All the spells show up in her list, BUT.
Only the first four (coincidentally the original Instrument of the Bards universal spells?) show with one charge. The rest show at will.
If I click cast on one of the spells with the 1charge, the spell grays out. Perfect!
There is nothing to click on the others.
I have tried reproducing this with different versions of the item with no success. I am really puzzled.
Edit. Those four spells also show up in the Limited Use Tab of her Actions.
You are confusing “charges” with “uses/day.” You could give an item 4 charges and 4 spells and they player could choose to cast each one once/day or one of the 4X/day. You need to set the “number of uses” for each spell to 1, and get rid of the charges.

Indeed I am confused. Where is the "number of uses" found?
When you add the spell. Look at how those original spells were added to the item.

Those spells were not listed in the spells section at all. Hence my confusion.
Okay. Did you base it off of “Instrument of the Bards” or did you base it off of one of the existing instruments listed in the table?

instrument of the bards
Start over and base it off of one of the specific instruments and you’ll see what I mean.

Thanks!
The trick was to remove the minimum charges.
