Making a new weapon

I want to make a chain weapon that deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage plus 1d4 piercing damage and shows up in the action section of my character sheet. I attempted in home brew content but with no success. Is there a way to do this?

Find a 1d8 weapon and then add the following:

Modifier—>Damage

Modifier Subtype—>Piercing

Die Count—>1

Die Type—>d4

That’s the same way Flame Tongue works.
