Do any of you, individually as a player, brought to the table as a DM, or together as a group, use narrative leveling for character advancement in your game(s)? If so, care to share any fun stories, thoughts, or tips?
What do you mean by narrative leveling? Do you mean milestone leveling where the DM just tells the group when they level up based on where the story is / how encounters have gone?
However the group gains a level, whatever that next level is going to be is whatever class is Discussed with the DM and new abilities that are to be gained are woven into the interactions and experiences of the group. So you don’t just gain a new level in fighter, what you become is part of the narrative of the adventure.

Sometimes, it depends on what is going on in the adventure and what the levelup is. It also depends on the size of the group.
With the 3 person game I am running, I did do narrative stuff when they gained their subclasses and some other stuff for future growth things.
With the 6 person game, not so much. its hard enough as it is.
