I was wondering if it was possible to use {{modifier:dex}} in a homebrewed magic item to show the number of times a feature can be used. Like how it would show up in a class feature when you hover over it.
It's basically a set of Armor that gives you extra reactions based on your Dexterity modifier. I started with a set of Armor of Lightning Resistance and tried to add the code but it won't show up how I want it to.
Is this possible to do? If so, where and how do I do it? Any help is appreciated!
No. Those “codes” are called snippets, and they only work in snippet fields. Magic Items have Description fields but not Snippet fields so there is nowhere to input those snippets where they will actually function. At least not yet anyway.
Magic Items are not designed to draw stats like that from character sheets. They were designed in such a way that once their creator seals the magic inside it is locked in at that amount of magical power based on what the creator could do at the time of creation.
