What is the circle of spore error? Every time I try to make a subclass, I keep getting told that it can not be published because it is too similar to Circle of Spores.
If you make a subclass that is too similar to an existing one (Circle of Spores from Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica in this case) you cannot publish it for everyone to use.
You can still, though, use it privately and in your campaigns.

It seems that it doesn't matter what the sub-class is though. I tried making a Sorcerer sub-class based on the Patrons from The Deathgate Cycle by Weis&Hickman. I tried replicating a weapon master fighter sub-class from 2nd Edition. I tried an assassin build based on The House of Blades novel. Each and every sub-class keeps getting that error.
Weird... Then I'd suggest to report it in the Bugs & Support subforum so that it can get a bit more visibility from the mods/devs, as it very much sounds like a bug.
Remember to include in your report links to one-two examples of subclasses not related to the Circle of Spores that get rejected with that error, it makes the whole checking process easier and faster for the mods/devs.

I am having the same issue. I want to make a Paladin sub class, called Dreadnaught, but the Circle of Spores “similarity” won’t allow me. I can’t even share it with my players...

First of all, you never need to publish any homebrew just for your players to use it. If they are in a DDB campaign with you, every homebrew in your “collection” is automatically shared with them, and everything in their homebrew collections are also automatically shared with you and with each other. If they enable “homebrew content” for their character sheets, they can add your subclass to their characters. If you copy the URL from your homebrew and send it to them, they will be able to see it.
Second, the homebrew creator only checks those compliances when the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under “Basic Information” is clicked. Re-save that whole homebrew and see if that warning doesn’t go away.
Third, if you just wrote the subclass, I personally recommend holding off on publishing right away. Once it’s published you cannot edit it anymore without creating a new version to overwrite the old one. If you finish playtesting and editing it first before you publish it you can knock out the kinks first.

The error message isn't as clear as it could be in some cases and the, "Is too similar to Circle of Spores" typically signifies one of the following:

If you need help with homebrew, please post on the homebrew forums, where multiple staff and moderators can read your post and help you!
"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
Thank you both. I've since deleted them, but I'll try again and if I continue to get the message I will report it to the devs.

I hope that helps.
