Seriously, we need a LotR topic. How about, what would have happened if Gandalf actually died after fighting the Balrog. Would Radaghast have become the White Wizard?
Now that would've been a fun book/movie.
I think we talked about this a looooong time ago in the early pages, of Radaghast became the white wizard he’d probably just use his power to turn everybody into animals 😂. I’m gonna have to get the image of hedgehog Frodo out of my mind now
Now I'm thinking about it! And anyone else who sees this xD
I found the original posts about Radghast the White, check page 5, a little ways down. Man, that was so long ago! Nostalgia!
I’d make the trolls scene in the hobbit a little more significant.
How so?
I think they just had more effect in the books, it signified the dwarves slowly starting to accept bilbo after that point, it was like the moment when bilbo proved himself. Instead I feel like that was waaay later and all the trolls were for was weapons and a reason for Gandalf to save the day.

Ohh, that makes sense. It did seem like a lot more of a turning point in the books.
Honestly, I really don't know. The movies could have used some more info on Aragorn's past, but that's not really part of the scope of the films so I get why they didn't. Some kind of flashback would've been nice.
I would have enjoyed that, it did never really explain him besides the fact that he was Gandalf friend in the movies

Yeah. There's lots of unanswered questions that really could have been explored more.
I think that’s honestly what makes LotR’s distinct tone: Things being mysterious and unexplained. It’s one thing I can criticize about the movies, the later ones are a little too in your face.

Huh. Never thought about it that way. I agree though, the mystery is a factor that sets it apart from other worlds (like FR) where everything is explained twenty times over.
Yeah, I gave up playing in the FR and homebrewed a world after a bit. Funny enough, the Warhammer Old World actually has a lot of that mysterious feeling.

Huh. I've never played. Is it fun?
I like more niche fantasy like Theros and Eberron anyway. Most medieval stuff (like FR) seems really bland, but LotR feels much more distinct.
Yeah, but wargaming isn’t as much as RPGs for me. What I did was just use the Warhammer world for D&D.
Yeah, that’s another similarity it has with Warhammer.
And we're still going!

Yeah. I’d actually say the first Hobbit movie did the best job of the mysterious tone, with the hidden evil and stuff.
