What did the Baggins family do to amass their existing generational wealth?
They weren’t super rich, but Bilbos dad married Belladonna Took, and the Tooks are the most loaded family in the Shire by a massive amount. Bilbo’s dad used mostly Took gold to build Bag End and most of Bilbo’s money comes from her.
And i have a message for those who don't, and I mean no offence:
Go suck on a lemon.

Hi! I'm EJO. I am a silly billy who forgets to play Genshin Impact every day totally DOESN'T simp for at least three different ninja girls. Some other facts about me:
I main Milio in League of Legends, and therefore have extreme anxiety whenever my glass cannon Vayne main teammate charges at the enemy while I'm at the spawn zone.
My average accuracy in Marvel Rivals is about 19%.
If anyone says the words "Spider man lord" in my presence I will immediately lock myself in my room.
And i have a message for those who don't, and I mean no offence:

Yeah, the extended editions are actually awesome (and also the Battle of the Five Armies is… Well, it’s there, isn’t it). Fun fact: Everyone who says the Hobbit has so much lore changes just haven’t read Tolkien’s extended media. Nearly all the changes from the book are just material from Unfinished Tales and other Tolkien notes getting added in. Thranduil’s plot is just Thingol’s story ported onto a different character, the White Council stuff is perfectly canon, the Nazgûl stuff is just a condensed version of the Witch King’s story, Thorin’s character is a perfect adaptation of his expanded material from Unfinished Tales. The only real lore changes are Azog (who is a fully Tolkien character, only lore change is that he’s still alive in the Hobbit. And yes, it’s stated that the orcs of Moria were sent by Sauron, so Azog’s involvement with him is totally canon too), and the horrifying Kili and Tauriel stuff I’m trying to forget. And some of Beorn’s backstory. And a lot of the Battle of the Five Armies.

Oh yeah, his whole story is completely canon, he just got killed in that battle of Moria instead of getting dehanded. His character otherwise is a 1:1 adaptation.

Most of the complaints I see about the additional scenes is not that they are not part of Tolkien's lore... but that they messed with the pacing and resulted in a disjointed narrative tone as the film attempted to be two different things simultaneously (a faithful adaption of a children's book and a loyal prequel beholden to the tone of another film trilogy). I think reasonable people can disagree on whether these changes improved or detracted from the film - I fall in the detracted category, for the reasons aforestated, but do not begrudge others for liking the movies.
But the biggest complaint I see? That the movies just looked bad and somehow looked worse than a film series predating them by a decade. People love to blame the egregious use of CGI--use that made Sir Ian cry when he realized how much green screen work he would have to do - but that is only a part of the picture.
The real problem? Jackson was arrogant when he made these films. Like Gretchen and fetch, he thought he could make shooting in 48 fps high definition a thing... even though it had been around for decades at that point and nearly universally discarded as a medium for film. Why wasn't it used? That level of definition - twice the framerate of a traditional 24 fps film camera - makes it really hard to hide things. Prosthetics, sets, and CGI all look worse at high definition, as you cannot hide the errors in the slightly worse definition of 24 fps. Jackson, however, thought he knew better than everyone else and started filming... and immediately realized he had a problem when he tried to film his practical orcs and it was apparent they were guys in visible makeup. Rather than admit maybe he should use 24 fps cameras.... he stuck with the 48 fps ones... and added the CGI later. By the time it was apparent that CGI also looks bad under 48 fps, it was too late to fix anything.
There is a reason 48 fps has been used on fewer than ten films since the early 90s... and Jackson spent tens of millions on his "let's make 48 fps a thing" vanity project... and only managed to convince people they should stick with 24 fps.
If only there was some kind of children's novel warning us not to chase after our follies!

That last problem didn't really show for me. The films looked fine, I didn't notice anything obviously CGI, and everything ran smooth as cake.

I definitely agree with your points on the original release. However, a lot of the CGI was drastically improved in the extended editions (entire scenes were totally remade) and the added scenes massively improved the flow of the movie. It ain’t perfect, but it’s way better.
When I say the Hobbit isn’t bad, I’m talking about the extended editions. The original release is a CGI mess that feels like 5 movies rammed together and just jumps from scene to scene with no flow whatsoever.
