I really like the description of the Oculus, i think it's pretty cool. There aren't really any defining traits, thouhg. like that would be unique for the oculus. Maybe try adding a few.

Thanks, I considered adding eye ray then I figured it being able to use ray of death was a bit over the top. What do you suggest I add?

I can try. Or maybe give them eye-rays but like minor illusions.

 So, what I guess I'm trying to say is, when beholders sleep, they occasionally dream. And when they dream, it warps reality, sometimes creating what they dream about. Obviously, this could be game-breaking for a character to be able to do this, so I would tone it down a bit, and maybe see what other people say about it.
