Obviously, this could be game-breaking for a character to be able to do this, so I would tone it down a bit, and maybe see what other people say about it.

 I’m thinking of making it have a paralysing eye ray but it only paralyses for 1 turn and has a big cool-down. I also want it to have another eye-ray thing that can warp reality a bit.

 Or maybe give it a trait because of their appearance when other creatures roll Charisma against it, they get a disadvantage.

 I think the paralysing ray would be pretty cool, but probably only once per day, but that's up to you. 

The appearance thing actually sounds pretty cool, and it would make sense, too.

 I like the idea of reality warps but idk how to do it. Like when they sleep or an eye-ray. I’ll let you decide.

 oh, i'm not used to this level of responsibility. for actual beholders, I think it would be when they sleep. so i would personally do it then. i'm just trying to think of an interesting ability for this, but one that still isn't too crazy

 Sure I have got like 20 posts in 20 mins it’s great.

I’ll make it when they sleep they can do it and maybe add a few eye-rays at higher levels. That makes it a bit like a class though. 

Do other races do that?
