"They're only "evil" because they're your enemies. How would they think of you?"
Both brothers ponder this for a while. "Interesting theory." Egrien says, and Reirlin nods in agreement. They continue to ponder this for a while.
Indeed, and interesting point you have made. Tehonican's voice rings in Mithris' mind, and you can tell he is speaking to Egrien and Reirlin at the same time as well. But how do you explain the actions of the deities of those races? Those deities, and the faiths they are the foundation of, are the source of evil in the hearts and minds of said races. Not only that, but in many cases, those same deities CREATED the evil races, and made them of like mind. In those cases, how do you explain their actions, especially those who, like the Gnoll and Drow, worship a demon as their deity? Obviously, such an entity as a demon lord or queen will be evil, and, by association, those that worship said entity will become evil, first by simply the exposure to its presence, and eventually that much power and perversion will irreparably twist the very identity of the race to evil.
I don't think the dark elves are evil. I'm sure that others are more knowledgable about them than me, and might have a different opinion, but I think that they're misguided. That they've been worshipping Lolth for so long that they don't realize that what they're doing isn't normal. It's just life for them, not crimes or atrocities. And besides that, I don't think every single drow ever believes in her teachings. There's never been a culture in existence that didn't have dissidents.
Indeed, you are correct with the assessment regarding the Drow. There have been dissidents in some worlds, especially the world known as Toril, where one Drizzt Do'Urden has successfully left his heritage fully behind him and has earned himself quite the reputation as a goodly hero. So maybe the Drow aren't inherently evil, but that does not answer my statement regarding the Gnoll. It is well known that they worship and serve the great demon lord Yeenoghu. I can easily bring up other deific examples, such as Gruumsh and the orcs. The orcs only care to pillage, plunder, and kill in almost every world, and only rarely do they peacefully coexist with the goodly races. Or I could bring up the Demon Queen of the Metallic Dragons, Tiamat, whose sole goal is to return to the Material Plane to wreak havoc and chaos.
And, yes, these are not necessarily true in every world, but they certainly are in most, and even you can agree to that much, I am sure.
*You meant chromatic, right?*
I think you can ask some of my friends if you think that gnolls are evil. They're gotten along pretty well with them. And I've never heard of Gruumsh before, so I can't really say very much about that. But Tiamat isn't even a species. She's just one dragon who sided with the demons.
*Yep, lol. After midnight, and functioning on about 5 hours of sleep right now, so there's gonna be some mistakes, even in my lore here, so bear with me, lol*
I Wasn't claiming either Gruumsh or Tiamat as a species, but Tiamat is the Queen of the Chromatics, and they follow her tenets, almost invariably. I, and these good brothers, spent quite some time on Toril, and became well-acquainted with their cosmology, deities, and history. Tiamat was one of three Draconic Deities, and she killed the third one, Sardior, the god and creator of the Gem Dragons. When she became banished to the Nine Hells, she called to her children, the Chromatics, to hoard as many riches as they could in order to bring her back to the Material Plane. When she was on the Material Plane, she and the rest of the Chromatics did nothing more than cause chaos and destruction for the sheer joy of it.
As for Gruumsh, once we decide to leave this place, we can take you to Toril, and you can find out more about him, and the other deities like him, there. I'm not fully qualified to speak as to him.
Egrien and Reirlin are both nodding at this, honestly seeming excited to go on another adventure again.
*Makes sense.*
Saevaran rules over all dragons, whether metallic or chromatic. Tiamat might be an elder dragon, but she is no goddess. Any dragons who follow her are worthy of death. But I would enjoy going to this world of yours.
Tehonican seems slightly confused, as do Egrien and Reirlin. I have not heard of this Saevaran. He must be unique to your world. In most worlds, there are three dominant draconic deities: Tiamat, Bahamut, and Sardior. In our world, Tiamat is a dragon who was corrupted by Hahtie after the Creation Wars. She quickly rose to deitihood, and became as she is in most other worlds: the Demon Queen of the Chromatic Dragons. She continued her path and rain of destruction until Stargazer, the first god, Creator, and the ultimate god of the Dragons, sealed her in the Void with the other war criminals from the Creation War. While some of the Chromatics have turned away from her teachings, most haven't, and continue to attack the peaceful humanoid races in order to gather wealth in a vain attempt to bring Tiamat back from the Void.
I haven't heard of that before. Are you sure it isn't just something in your world? I know that Saevaran is unique to Borrelia, but I've been to more than four different worlds, and I don't think Tiamat was a god in any of them. Besides, how could she rule over chromatic dragons, when no dragon is a specific color until they become a wyrmling?
That must be unique to your world, or at least very uncommon. In all the worlds that we have been, dragons hatch with a set color, which is based on their parents, and Tiamat is has always been a god. In the world of Toril, one of our favorite worlds to journey to, she was a god before the other gods were born; a god of the first age. She is ancient, and resides on the first layer of the Nine Hells in most worlds.
Maybe it's like that on more than one world. But your experiences aren't everything. Just because you've seen one or two places like that doesn't mean they all are. And a dragon's color being based on their parent is very strange.
We've been to far more than just one or two worlds with those circumstances on them. Toril is just our favorite world to journey to. Also, in our world, there are several species of true dragons that don't fall into chromatic, metallic, or even gem. How do you explain the gem dragons, which are rarer and don't follow the traditional tenets of either the metallics or chromatics, let alone the unique species some worlds have that don't fit into any of the three traditional types of True Dragons?
I'm sure that there are other kinds of dragons that don't have the same life cycle as us. Drakes and wyverns were created during the Dragon Wars to help fight back the giants. But they're not true dragons, though I accept them as kin. Gem dragons, though, I've never heard of.
Interesting. Your world and ours have very different histories then, Egrien interjects telepathically. The drakes were created as a result of the Creation War, when the blood of fallen dragons mixed with the essence of fallen elementals and the blood of fiends. Wyverns.... No one's entirely sure where they came from. They just showed up in the middle of the Creation War, and started attacking anything and anyone indiscriminately.
The only wars that truly changed Borrelia were the Demon War and the Dragon Wars. The others might have caused the founding and destruction of nations, but they didn't herald the passing of an age.
Tehonican continues now. The Creation War was one war that truly changed our world.
*Goes on the long history of that. Refer to the Word doc if need be, lol. Not typing ALL of that, lol*

Interesting. Our gods never fought each other directly. They fought through their creations, instead. The dragons against the giants, not Saevaran against Brogon. The goblinoids against the faceless, not Variash against Dakri. If the gods themselves battled, it would destroy the world.

Indeed, you would think that. There have been wars between deities on other worlds, but the worlds are rarely harmed to any lasting effect. Our world was an exception to that world, and that is because of the sheer numbers of powerful creatures involved in the war. There's no way it wouldn't leave lasting scars upon the world.

the werebear walks up to kalnor and waves his giant spiked gauntlet
zya teleports to E
"you have been so secretive recently..."
He waves back
"Perhaps..."
"hello! who are you?"
"come on, spill it. Torturing it out of you would be no fun." he grins
"Kalnor. Who are you?"
"Not funny, Zya."
"My name is #3. nice to meet you."
"you sure?"
"Same to you... Number 3?"
She nods, taking a drink
"Yes. My real name is private for safety reasons."
"Really? Dang.... I have been saying that for centuries..."
"Safety?"
"... You have a lot of people and probably ghosts to apologize to"
"Yup. I am a mercenary, but I defected from... an army based in entropy. Well, not defected. but.... never mind, it doesn't matter."
"nope, just ghosts."
"anyways, what do you do Kalnor?"
"As in for work?"
"yeah. I smith and fight."
"Me and a friend sell pranks"
"No, seriously. What do you actually do?"
"... Exactly what I said"
he raises his eyes
"Thats a job?"
He nods "We started a company for it"
*sorry for the sporadic absences, life sucks.*
"impressive. Does it turn a profit?"
"It couldn't be my job if it didnt. I have to get food somehow."
