I don't remember what Hugo was doing, but let's say he is now in the library, asking the librarian where he could find books on nonverbal spells. He wants to know a bit more about them, since he managed to cast one.

 *I'm gonna timewarp and say that Wynvyre is there too, reading. Also, I'm gonna have to go soon, so if you reply and I don't, it's cause I'm not on.*

Hugo sees a tall, dark skinned girl sitting in a reading nook with a large book in front of her. *I assume you remember her desc.?* A silver raven is perched on her shoulder, and is looking around with intelligent-looking eyes. The book almost looks to be bound in some sort of hide...

 "Whatcha reading?" he asks, drumming his fingers against his own stack of books. 

 She looks up and shuts the book, tucking it away. Before it disappears, he catches a sight of an intricate skull and wand emblem on the thick cover. "Just some study materials for a private class. You?" Her arrogant tone carries over to you easily.

 *if you want, Scyria, we can keep doing this* 

"I'm trying to find out more about nonverbal spells. I actually managed to cast one when me and Jaxson were dueling! Oh, wait, do you know who Jaxson is? And what's your name?" He doesn't seem to notice her arrogant aura. 

 "Yes, I've met Jaxson. I'm helping him with some useful curses. My name is Wynvyre. As for nonverbal spells, that's quite dangerous for a first year to do. I've barely mastered them, and I'm a fifth year." She stands and walks towards him.

 "I know it's dangerous, but we were having fun, and I was, like, trying to win or whatever, and I just did it. I'm not planning on doing it again soon, though. And that's nice of you for helping Jaxson. He's awesome." 

*btw Hugo has a sneakoscope, just in case Wynvyre (or anyone) is being untrustworthy and he doesn't know* 

 *OK.*

"If you incorrectly cast a nonverbal spell, the results can be... catastrophic. You're lucky the spell didn't backfire. The most you could hope for is a lessened effect." She says this all dismissively.

 "Yeah, I'm definitely lucky..." 

 She nods and looks at the book he's reading.

 It's just a basic book on spells, with a few chapters discussing the concept of nonverbal ones. 

 "Have you had Charms yet? Or Defense Against the Dark Arts?"

 *ooooh, I think he's had Charms, don't know about DAtDA* 

"Yeah, I've had Charms." 

 "What have you learned so far? Alohomora? Wingardium Leviosa? Colloportus?"

 "Um, lemme think... Wingardium Leviosa, Avis, Impervius, Aguamenti, Incarcerous, Diffindo, charms like that. What about you?" 

 *I'm back!*

"Interesting. I'm taking Advanced Charms. At Ilvermorny they didn't teach a lot of those the first year. I assume you've learned basic defense and offense spells?"

 "Well, not exactly. I haven't even learned Protego yet."

 *So, me and Alaric had a duel. If we cast a spell that we didn't already know/had learned it/gotten it down, then we roll. If it's high enough (like 13-20), then we said that we succeeded in casting it, and we now have it learned. With Protego, when Alaric cast it, he just did the same thing. So not exactly like contest rules, but we can if you want*

 "Thank you! You know, I'm gonna start practicing it right now!" He flips through the book until he finds Protego. He also sees Expelliarmus and Expecto Patronum in there, and makes a mental note to come back to those some time. He then picks up his wand. "Want to practice with me?" 

 "In what way? You want me to throw jinxes at you? I have to warn you, I'm a fifth year studying dark magic."

 "Ummm... just don't use dark magic, then!" he says, laughing nervously. "Give me something small to start with." He raises his wand. 

 She flicks her wand at him. "Petrificus Totalus." *Roll off? How would this work?*

 *So, me and Alaric had a duel. If we cast a spell that we didn't already know/had learned it/gotten it down, then we roll. If it's high enough (like 13-20), then we said that we succeeded in casting it, and we now have it learned. With Protego, when Alaric cast it, he just did the same thing. So not exactly like contest rules, but we can if you want* 

 *She's learned it, so... would I use her arcana? If so, 22.*

 *Yeah. And for modifiers, me and Alaric just kind of decided that for us, it was +2 if we hadn't learned it, and something higher if you have learned it*
