Sigh. I miss camping so much. Disconnecting from the world.
Unfortunately most of my friends, don't enjoy sleeping in tents anymore. My wife's health makes it impossible for her to enjoy camping (and someone needs to keep an eye on her if she's alone for extended time in case something happens).
Kids. Don't spend your time wishing you could grow up faster.
Because when you do.
And you get older.
You remember the days of freedom ye simply squandered away.

Speaking of camping, I am going to be backpacking for three days this week. Some friends and I always do it around this time of year and it is always awesome. Completely disconnected from the world, and yet closer to it at the same time.
What is your favorite 3PP (3rd Party Publisher) product?
Hmmm. I don’t own many, but… I have to say the Wardlings book is a fun concept and perfect for less serious games. It’s by Renegade game studios. Basically adults suck and cause war with magic so the gods give all magic to children and children have protected animal spirits that help them and even save them from death.

What is your favorite 3PP (3rd Party Publisher) product?
For 5e? I've not bought any. Due to the pandemic, all my games went remote, and my entire campaign (all of them) are a homebrew that's all connected.
So if it's not on D&D Beyond, I've not bought it because I won't have much use of it. The only reason I even buy adventure books on 5e, is for the additional monsters, classes, spells, etc., that they might have that myself or my players can benefit from.
Question: Except for gods, do you have creatures in your hb (homebrew) world that don’t have statblocks, whether because they are all powerful, the players will never get the chance to meet them, or if it’s a lore thing?
This dude right here. Basically known as the world watcher. All powerful, cosmic entity that the players will meet, but never will battle.

Question: Except for gods, do you have creatures in your hb (homebrew) world that don’t have statblocks, whether because they are all powerful, the players will never get the chance to meet them, or if it’s a lore thing?
I have many. The Grim Sweeper is one, you know about him. I also have the Scrivener. He is a heavenly record keeper who sometimes appears at important events to document the exact happenings so that the gods can review them later. He does not speak or interact with the environment, he just sits there and writes everything that happens in his book. However, he has gotten so good at recording what happens that he is usually ahead of the current situation. In other words he writes what will happen down, though it is only a couple seconds into the future. A character can take an action to read his writing to gain advantage on their next action.

Question: Except for gods, do you have creatures in your hb (homebrew) world that don’t have statblocks, whether because they are all powerful, the players will never get the chance to meet them, or if it’s a lore thing?
No, but I have creatures that don't have stat blocks because it's very easy to run the game without them. NPCs for example -- all I really need is to know that their PB is probably +2, they're likely good at one or two things, and if they're really special they could have a modifier to their relevant ability scores up to +5. An alligator needs to be able to kill a person in one blow but not guaranteed to do so -- so let's give him a bite that deals 1d6+3, +3 seems like the right STR bonus. Probably grapples on a hit. AC pretty low, I see no strong reason to go above 10. Idk, something like 20HP?
I also like to take existing monsters and call them something else. Right now in my (currently on pause) Play-by-Post, they're up against a brush devil. These intelligent carnivores look vaguely like people, but their proportions are wrong and they're black like charcoal. They have long claws on their hands and they bleed smoke when injured. They grow larger and stronger as they pursue a target, through a mysterious magic known only to them. (It's lies. Every time they tell a lie they get bigger, and they're compelled to lie every chance they get. If someone can disprove one of their lies, they immediately shrink back down to about four feet high.)
What stats am I using for this dreadful thing? The wolf, of course. But with fire immunity and the devil type. If one managed to get really big I might double its damage or something.
Question: Except for gods, do you have creatures in your hb (homebrew) world that don’t have statblocks, whether because they are all powerful, the players will never get the chance to meet them, or if it’s a lore thing?
Probably the closest thing I have is an supremely ancient green dragon named Emereth. She's been a dragon I've brought from almost from my earliest iteration of homebrew. And she's changed very little. From the get go she was an ancient green dragon. Way back when - I am talking the days of 2nd edition - with my lack of true creativity then - she was essentially modeled after Smaug from The Hobbit. She's since evolved to be much more terrifying. She's been mentioned in a few character backstories, in different campaigns through the years; including my current and by far most robust and developed homebrew world. I've never put stats to her because no game has ever gotten close to a power level to deal with her; so she's always remained this ambiguous all powerful dragon of sheer evil and cruelty; so much so that the other chromatic dragons despise and fear her; and even Tiamat herself regards her with caution. If I ever get a game that lasts long enough, and I do get stats to her - I'd probably make her somewhere near Tiamat's level. I've even made it so that she's traveled through the Well of the Worlds (essentially the previous iterations of my homebrew as it evolved) gaining power and knowledge as she did so.

Brought tears to my eyes. I know exactly what you’re talking about, even if I’m still pretty young. I remember wishing it could all go by faster and now I know I can never have those days back.
As for 3pp, I am a connoisseur of games and 5e homebrew. The best independent (basically, not one of the really big companies) game I’ve played is probably Bladed in the Dark. The best 5e stuff I have (outside of Kobold Press, because they’re basically one of the core game developers now) is probably the Game Master’s Books. Four books in the series that I have, and they are all incredibly helpful for running games. The ones I have are: Non-Player Characters, Random Encounters, Puzzles and Dungeons, and Legendary Dragons. (A close second would be The Lost Citadel, or perhaps Arcana of the Ancients, two books that have a totally different feel for classic 5e)
Update to the 3pp post… I have scheduled a trip to my local game store because they have some books I want. Namely, Anime 5e. I don’t watch anime. I’ve seen a couple episodes, but they were all a long time ago. However, this book is absolutely genius, mostly because it has perfectly made one-shot characters and rules. It isn’t necessarily on purpose, but they are designed in a hilarious way. You can check out the book on anyflip.com.
My favorite third party thing for D&D is Sly Flourish's Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master. He tries to make it pretty system-neutral, but really it's a 5e book. It's small and concise, which is good for a product like this. It's basically all his best DM advice, organized into an actionable plan. He's a smart dude and uses a lot of community polls to form his advice.
I haven't really used it in ages cuz I'm not DMing right now. But still.
