The sun reaches its blistering peak in the sky, the scorching heat of high noon washing over the plains. Its coloring shifts to a deep orange, intensity magnifying. The dogs howl, singing their praise to the sky. The hottest days of the year have begun.

The light bends and magnifies around a cluster of beautifully decorated tents, animal pelts stretched over tapestries of knitted spider silk, bones, beads, and hooves hung over the doorways. Several people stand in a circle outside of the tents, their muscular bodies painted with red henna and golden traces of clay depicting stories and their families, each one unique. Their skins are tanned from days in the sun, sporting spiriling, curling horns and tails similar to what a tiefling would have, though much more primal and animal-like. Two of the men begin to play the drums, beating rhymically with their hands- the type of drumbeat you can hear in your chest, vibrating up to your very skull. With whips alight in flame, the rest offer themselves up to the music and dance, feet swirling in small, fast steps and lunging motions of predatory grace. 

In the center is a creature beyond mortality, shining as bright as the sun itself with nothing but its smile. He is taller than the people around him (a feat in-of itself, most individuals here stand between 6-7 ft tall) with hair that glimmers a fiery orange braided with golden threads and chains, undercut and tattooed with beautiful sun henna that stands out against his dark skin. He wears beautiful golden jewelry and a braided spider-silk headdress, dancing as it bounces with him. His furry canine-like legs are tattooed as well, golden cuffs and braided fur, and his short fluffy tail tied with a golden rope. His antlers are massive, forming a multi-tined crown shining gold with ornaments and beads hung down from it. Kilashi dances, yipping in glee and his body glowing from the fire in his veins. Charred footprints are left in the ground, the drops of lava dripping from his feet causing beautiful neon orange flowers to sprout from the ground.

The dogs are singing, the zebras baying, the animals of the savanna gathered for carnival. The savanna has reached its peak size, stretching over most of the wasteland and the edges crested in mountains and ravines, streams of fresh water flowing across the landscape.

100,000 people, all migrating to join together in song, in dance, in celebration. The Illishi, the Dog Days, have begun.

Kilashi is now an Overgod, domain of Light, Fire, and Life, god of the Sun.

From a deep lake in the middle of a wide savanna comes a presence, coalescing gently. The thoughts and actions of mortals, becoming a newborn godling. The presence forms, pushing the water out of the way as it - he, now - rises from the lake. Tall, muscular, covered in shimmering robes of magic, completely untouched by the falling droplets as he crests the surface and strides onto the land before him. His eyes, amber and devious, survey the grassy plain before looking to the heavens above. He smiles as he imagines himself up there someday, above the others...

Turning his otherworldly eyes back to the earth below, Aon'i, chaotic neutral demigod of trickery, strides forth to find mortals to decieve.
