New thread idea I had, I think it's very promising if people are interested. Please give it a read and see what you think!
The year is 2147. 5 years ago, the Tethered Heart Project was dismantled, and as one of the thousands of volunteers who were experimented on, you've been left to return to normal life, yet that doesn't change the fact that you will always be connected to your Fuse.
The Tethered Heart Project was a government-funded biocybernetics project, looking into the potential to unlock human capabilities through the activations of a person's inner Fuse, which is effectively a weak mental connection a person has to a concept or object. Some people's Fuses come from past experiences, their connection to the concept built up after years of association, whilst others have always just had a faint recognition of what they are now forever tied to, having seen it around often as they grew up, unaware of the imprint it subconsciously left on their mind. A person could find that their Fuse is lavender, after the scent of their mother's perfume, or that it's swords, having had their arm sliced off by one within combat. No matter the person, there will always be something that they connect to stronger than others, and it was that theorem which the Tethered Heart Project sprouted from.
It became evident in the years after its disbandment that the Tethered Heart Project's true goal was to perfect the technology that sparks a person's Fuse, called the Soul Plunger, and then assumedly turn mass produced tethered cyborgs into mindless weapons, having artificially imprinted them with inherently violent Fuses. However, to get this right, they needed hundreds and thousands of test subjects, which is what you are. You had a Soul Plunger (a large, cybernetic interface the size of a handprint) installed somewhere on your body, and through a mixture of nanotechnology and very specific electricity based neuroscience, you had your Fuse ignited.
It really is a blend of several of my past threads, although the biggest inspiration was San Fuerza, except this thread would be a lot more down to earth and more roleplay focussed. If San Fuerza was in the midst of a storm, this is more akin to the clean up afterwards. You'd get special enhancements based on your Fuse, but I just want to know what people think of this cyberpunk-esque idea!

Seems pretty awesome! I had an idea for a similar power system not too long ago. I love attaching a characters abilities to some kind of object that’s special to them

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this but with a Soul Plunger you'd get psychic powers based on your Fuse. For the examples given, with lavender as a Fuse you could summon illusory plants and calm people, or with swords you could send daggers of pain into people's mind. All of the powers are psychic and are powered by the enhanced mind, so nothing is actually tangible, but there might be a rogue upgrade to the Soul Plunger that you could install, which has the power to blend the barrier between mind and matter...

That’s really interesting! I like it and would definitely join. What was it like being a part of the Tethered Heart Project?
Well, I was told to walk my dogs. My gf actually has a dog too. We were walking them in the same park, and we ran into each other. We talked for a bit, and we sat down when we made it to the dog park near the park where we let the dogs roam there. While we were sitting down next to each other I don’t know why it happened, but we leaned in and had our first kiss.
If you don’t know where I am, I’m either sleeping or roleplaying. If I’m doing neither of those things, except the worst. (Do not actually expect the worst) If you need to talk then PM me. Head Acolyte of The Tree Cult.

Something coincidental happened.
