Hello! I am a perfectly sane gibberer. Hi! :D
Locations are dead, the Temple of Potassium has fallen but its ideals live on

I mean, isn’t that what almost all cults are about?
Roomba Knight, Architect of the Cataclysm, Foxy Lunar Archpriest. Dubbed The Fluffy Bowman by Golden. He/They
Theatre Kid, Ravenclaw, bookworm, DM, Lego fanatic, flautist, mythology nerd, pedantic about spelling. I also love foxes, cats, otters, and red pandas!
I love Korean Mythology. If you want to ask me about something, send me a PM!

Well I think Nothic is talking about specifically cults created from jokes here on DDB (e.g Jeff Cult) that nobody else would get. Versus a cult created from some external media (e.g the Hollow Knight Cult).

Ah ok. Where would my Kimiko cult fall?
I mean, it's not really an inside joke and more a general concept that can be instantly understood regardless of whether or not you were there for its creation. Meanwhile if I didn't have a link to the sequence that led to Jeff's creation, people would probably be a lot more confused by it.

That makes sense. I know I was confused when I first saw it.

Perhaps the decline of the off topic forums is sort of here to stay. Maybe even eventual death.
My quotes thread is just people making a ton of references to things no one else knows (most of the time) or just quoting random conversations on threads or real conversations they had with no context. I think most of us are guilty of contributing to these problems in one way or another.
All of these problems previously mentioned are, at this point, very baked into the off topic forums. I think the MDGA was a nice idea, but now I think it’s sort of silly to actually start a club and all that. As far as the wider population goes, D&D is not widely played (although definitely not unknown), D&D Beyond, it’s digital counterpart is not as popular compared to physical games and rules,* then you have the forums of this site digital counterpart, and then the off topic part of these forums. What I’m trying to say is that it seems kinda small and insignificant when you think about it. Not speaking for everyone, but to me it almost seems to be a waste of time to spend any significant time on here at this point, this applies almost all of the time, but better to just stay offline. I tried to delete my account a while ago, and it would be if wizards didn’t make it so difficult.
I don’t mean to insult anyone here, this is just how I see the situation, most of the posters are here are chill and I’ve had some nice chats with
*mostly guessing for these claims, like I don’t have statistical proof
