I've been playing/DMing since 1980 (Basic D&D box set with the red plastic dice and yellow crayon-still have them). I started with Keep on the Borderlands and taught several players the art of DMing, establishing a kind of guild of the day. After being a player in my initial party, I have had a difficult time being anything other than the DM. That's not because I don't want to be a PC, I do, but most DMs run out of steam after about 4 months of DMing or RL creeps up on us and scurries off into the dark woods with enough party members to result in disbanding the party. I have created three campaign worlds of my own and countless adventures. I taught my two kids to play, but now they are focused on RL and they're adults, so.... My third campaign setting began just a few months ago when I started a "small to big" design. (For those who mentioned not knowing how to get started, I wrote up a village on the verge of becoming a town and fleshed it out. Then I made a map of the village. Then I made a story about the area and its geography. Then I made a map of the area, being a small, relatively new kingdom that is spread out a bit in an area of wilderness that still is untamed. Et voila, lots of opportunities for adventure and growth!!) I find D&D Beyond to be a great tool and I look forward to using it with friends/players for a long time to come. 5E reminds me a bit of 2nd ed AD&D; not too heavy on skills (feats optional) and a rules system giving creativity to the DM. I think the Advantage/Disadvantage system is a great way of expressing the DM's rule of 2 (better way!) No more adding 2 or 4 for this circumstance, subtracting for other circumstances subjectively. Roll the dice and let fate decide. I love the creativity of this game and the ability to make it yours, even though it has a base set of rules that makes it D&D. With this edition, I finally felt like I did with AD&D when it came out - it's perfect the way it is and I will tweak it as I see fit for my own setting(s). Thanks for 5E and for D&D Beyond for making a great interface for playing and DMing! I painted minis for many years and, though I haven't done it in a while, am sure I'm still quite good at it! As for my campaign, I still need a party that can focus enough to make the work I put into the game worth doing.
I've actually had D&D Beyond for over a year now, but I've never logged in via computer before so I didn't really know about the forum community on here. I've been playing D&D for a little over two years now, 5e being my start and go to. I've been into D&D for much longer, listening to podcasts and being generally curious about it from a very young age. I'm really happy to be taking part in a campaign run by my partner, playing alongside our best friends and new roommate. In our campaign I play a tiefling bard (lvl 4). This is my first time playing a bard (I'm usually a wizard) so I'm really excited to level them up and see what they can do. I thought I would be the group healer, but I've kind of become the damage dealer. I think I have the most kills out of everyone so far.
I also draw, cosplay, and play several D&D based video games.
I'm looking forward to being more active on here and to continuing my partner's campaign.
I am 22, I am from New Zealand and was introduced to DnD by my Dad just over a year ago (approx) of whom used to play when he was a kid and as soon as I understood how the freak it worked (I originally thought it was a board game, whoops) I pretty much fell in love with the game- particularly creating characters (I write stories and find character creation to be the most enjoyable part of story-writing and now, DnD too).
I spend a lot of time reading, story-writing and creating DnD characters (particularly backstories).
I prefer to watch T.V. shows over movies- So some of my favourite tv shows are Bryan Fuller's Hannibal, Game of Thrones and Supernatural.
I am really excited to get to know more people in this community and hopefully learn more about DnD and how to make a good DnD character! Thank You X)

What's up, I'm Queer_Alien, I'm a 20-year-old bisexual trans man and I am a college student studying English and Film. I spent y entire teenage years RPing on forums, but I've never used a dice and never done DND I just made my first character his name is Finn Feaborn. I am 32, Served 8 years in the US Army as a combat medic, spent a year as a private military contractor in a security team and have been working in the security industry for about 5 years now. I'm also a gunsmith.
I got into DnD back in 3rd edition. I enjoy DMing and being a player(rare opportunity). I play other RPGs and also Wargaming. I like to craft terrain and paint minis for my games. I'm going to start sharing that stuff on here at some point.
Brand new to DnD. I got interested when I purchased the Quest Calendar from Sundial Games for the 2022 calendar year. Since then, I dove in head first and started getting really into it. I picked up my first campaign, but would love to do some one-shot games with some new people. I am somewhat of a closeted nerd with this, looking to meet some new people and step out of my shell a bit. I have not done this at all in the past, but I am very open to learning new things. I am 33, married, with two beautiful baby girls. Located in Columbia, SC, USA. Skol!
I am Steve Buckets, I got into D&D a few years ago. Still struggling to get an actual campaign going but I study the books daily as well as rp around the forest. I have a MASSIVE worldbuilding project that goes back farther than I can remember. Thinking of turning it into a sourcebook. Born and raised in the awesome state of New Jersey (Let's hear it for Ocean City) but moved out a couple of years ago. I'm currently going to college as a literature major, hoping to make a career as an author and maybe make my own ttrpg (I have some ideas for a sci-fi one.) If anyone wants to PM me if you want any help with worldbuilding - it's my favorite hobby.

Hi, I am not a chest. I deny with 100% certainty that I am a chest. I can neither confirm nor deny what I am beyond that.
I used to portray Krathian, Q'ilbrith, Jim, Tara, Turin, Nathan, Tench, Finn, Alvin, and other characters in various taverns.

I love worldbuilding! And I am very familiar with Ocean City Maryland 😊.
Hello starshines! I go by Fey (among other names, but Fey is fine). I have been playing D&D for... 6 years now? 7? A while haha. I actually met my husband during the first time I played D&D, though we didn't formally get introduced until a year later, when he was DMing the campaign I was joining. I've been following D&DBeyond since the beginning, but I'm just now getting involved with the community/communities here. Anyways, I love this game (and other TTRPGs, too). Any chance to roleplay, and I'm there! I keep odd hours for someone living in Savannah, GA., but I'm always down to talk nerdy ;) Hmmm, what else about me... I'm a proud dice goblin; I have an unhealthy? appreciation of rakshasa; werewolves > vampires. That's all the things I can think of on the spot!

You sound awesome 😊. I love rakshasa but I don’t know much about them.
Thank you! I don't know much technical information besides what you can find in the various monster manuals and d&d wikis, but I have so much love for them. I've only ever experienced two instances of them showing up in games that I have played as, and I always want more haha.

Hello. I am a 34 year old father of 1, I work as a chef and have gotten into D&D mostly because of critical role. I have been playing since 2015 and am highly interested in finding a long term game. I am more of a night owl 9pm or later is my general preferred start time of any game. Hope this message finds someone in a good mood.
I'm an old hand at RPG via a seriously homebrewed version of Dragon Warriors (look it up from the 80s) and more recently, several campaigns of D&D5e.
I'm a music composer (Orchestral/cinematic/hybrid) and find lots of inspiration from my RP sessions, situations and characters. As such, I'm looking to make a little something for the D&D community in the near future that everyone can use for their own games. I'm excited to get things underway this year and I'm devoting most of my spare time to it.
Anyway, I've been on here a little while and just realized that I never did a hello post --- Hello all! :)
I am Lawrence, Lawrence is my middle name and what i go by because i do not feel like giving out my real name. I am a 19-25 year old Panromantic/Demisexual male who lives in Rhode island. I go to college at the Rhode island school of design for digital arts and animation programs.
i have played D&D for 4-5 months but drew D&D characters for a year before.
i have two cats and a dog. The dog is a Siberian husky while the cats are both fluffy calicos (all are little cry babies who want their fathers attention why their father is working.)
Im currently in two D&D groups, one is run by my good friend, Koal, while the other is run by my close friend since high school, Malcolm. I play the demonically possessed Issac and the Allison, the bardic-mage.
In my opinion i am a chaotic neutral, Im always the one to cause in-party-fighting for some reason or to dare the DM to kill someone.
Oh, uh hey there. I'm just a humanoid playing DND like you.
Oh? you want more? well, I wasn't born playing DND, in fact I didn't know what it was until a few years ago.
You want even MORE about me? fine, okay. Warning! When I go on a tangent, I just go and don't stop, feel free to skip to the bottom,
The first time I played "official" DND with a DM and a group was about 2 years ago, but only after a grueling journey of playing what I call "SESSION ZERO DND." This happens when you finally found a group to play with and everyone makes characters, and they actually go to someone's house and play DND together. IMEDIATELY AFTER, everyone begins canceling one by one, saying they can't make it or no longer want to come to DND. Except you. You remain diligent for weeks, even months hoping there will be another session, checking with the DM and the players to see who can play each week. Unfortunately, they've given up and you're back to SESSION ZERO where you started, and you begin the forever search of another party......
Fortunately, right as I began growing distant from the game, and just when I thought playing fantasy games with friends WAS a fantasy, I had a break-through. A "stroke of luck". The ex-machina to my life's search. An old friend randomly invited me to be part of a group he was joining so I said "sure why not" though I doubted if my effort would be rewarded. This group and the game became a wonderful experience I never could've imagined. I actually played a campaign and did so much fun stuff!
What was this magical game of dice and classes and spells? Was it heaven? A perfect fantasy world with no limits and endless options. A true paradise. I was truly enjoying the game. I had rolled a "figurative" and literal nat20 while playing this game. Obviously, I'm exaggerating, and even this "perfect" group landed on some "landmines".
For starters, our group had two members absent for the last roughly 25% of the game, and one of our players was, well they were always telling other people what to do on their own turns. It got worse as the things he suggested were always only to give his character advantages in the game, which could've been fun ROLEPLAY but instead became both annoying and toxic even after we all asked him to not tell someone what to do on their turn. Through thick and thin, flame and freeze, our group played and still managed to have fun most of the time.
By the time the campaign finally ended, when players left the table for the last time, when the DM told us the main quest was complete, I had learned so much about the game, and I don't mean the rules. While yes, everyone was sad when it ended and a lot of us moved onto new things with our lives, knowing it would be a while before we would play again with this group, I couldn't help but feel overjoyed that we actually finished it. I had made it back to session zero, but it felt different, more exciting, as if I'd been dying for the chance to start at level one once again, both as a player and DM. I truly believe DND is just a fun time with friends and some rules. It's a game of choices, customization, teamwork, independence, magic, nonmagic, combat, noncombat, and people. When choosing to play DND I can think of only one reason why I want to play, "because it's FUN."
WELCOME TO THE BOTTOM: Nowadays I'm running my own "campaign" (literally just a few random towns that need help is the entire campaign) and I'm playing in another group as a sorcerer. My dream is to continue to find willing players and DMs to play with no matter what. I love my experiences with this game.
I am a 12 y/o who got into D&D after watching some of critical role with my father. My first character was a wood elf Ranger, but my goal is to make a Warlock of every race I own. I have a weak spot for Pact of the Blade and Soulknife. I spend most of my time playing Cookie Run: Kingdom and making and publishing homebrew. Currently, I only have published 2 items. I also am a fan of the Earthsea series and other fantasy books like Magic Steps: The Circle Opens. I’m currently watching Doctor Who, but started late in the series (ninth doctor). I make one shots and run them for fun. I’m currently working on a level 10, 5-player one shot that takes place in the elemental planes.

Et voila, lots of opportunities for adventure and growth!!)
I find D&D Beyond to be a great tool and I look forward to using it with friends/players for a long time to come.

Hello! I'm Pip.
EDIT: Fixed some grammar mistakes.
