Nobody dies in the battlefield... They get left at one hp, and if they want to continue they get teleported to the med tent for healing. If not they get teleported to the spectator stands or back into town.
For your new character? Sure. Almost any homebrew by a staff member or by Matt Mercer is fine in my book.
