PS: Just remembered, he has a homebrew feat, a variant of Athlete. Should I switch that out for an official feat or keep it?
Welcome Semako!
Honestly, when we started this no one even had character sheets. We just kinda role played. Eventually we graduated to sheets and leveling up as we continued on. That said, I don’t think it matters if you have home brewed feats or weapons. Elocin’s character has a home brewed flamburge. This is a place to try out stuff that some of the PBP threads won’t allow. So, as long as you don’t give yourself insane god level abilities or weapons I think your good to go! ;)
As for how you join the group, that’s up to the DM. We are currently in the middle of fighting a basilisk, but I think it would be pretty easy to just drop you in there…since that’s kinda what just happened with all of our characters so far. We escaped from a dreamscape by finding the right things to put into a locket. Perhaps you just escaped that dreamscape as well? Again, it’s really up to the DM. Lol

Okay... with this new revelation about magic items and such.... *distant maniacal laughter*
Motioning for Agnomally to stay behind him, Verdell activates his angel mode. He rises slightly off the ground, white angelic wings erupting from his back. From a scabbard at his side he pulls a crystal longsword, its radiance filling the room (or, you know, most of it) with holy light. He swings the sword at the basilisk:
Attack: 6 Damage: 15 (The 2d8 is for the slashing and then the radiant.) On the very low chance that's a hit, the attack does an additional 7 radiant damage.
He then uses Embodiment of the Law to cast command as a bonus action. "Grovel, foul monstrosity, before the holy might of justice!" (The basilisk must succeed on a DC 15 WIS save or spend its next turn dropping prone.)
Darklis will walk over to the horse skull and pick up the pendant. Then she will examine first the skull and then the pendant. When she examines the pendant, she makes sure to check if it is a locket.
PS: Just remembered, he has a homebrew feat, a variant of Athlete. Should I switch that out for an official feat or keep it?
Nah this is largely unofficial you should be fine on the feat. If you want to give him a rare item, go for it but, you should be fine. Usually characters just teleport in from the void, but you can do something special. Tez is DMing right now so they have the most authority on that.
Edit: i see this has already been answered better than me. So yeah.
Then I will wait for Tez to add me to the group. i just gave him a homebrew item, which is an artifact using the mechanics of the Betrayer Artifacts, in its dormant state and without any beneficial or detrimental abilities - so should be a strong rare item in terms of power level. Let's see how this sword will perform and how the finished version of it with its awakened and exalted state will look like :-)

Just so's ya know, leveling is pretty slow here, so it could take quite a long time to achieved exalted state.
Out of pure curiosity, can we see the weapon's stats?

So I have a homebrew magic item that I want Verdell to have, but I'm not sure if it's actually balanced for a Rare item. It's in the spoiler I bet you can find it.
Shield of Shielding (Type 2)
Armor (shield), rare (requires attunement)
This shield has 3 charges. When a creature you can see within 5 feet of you is hit by an attack while you are holding the shield, you can expend one charge to cast the shield spell from the shield as a reaction. When you cast the spell in this way, the creature gains the benefits of the spell instead of you. The shield regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.
A shield is made from wood or metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a shield increases your Armor Class by 2. You can benefit from only one shield at a time.
Yeah, we are pretty chill when it comes to homebrew stuff. Both the flamburge Darklis has and the Sword Clementine has, are homebrew items i've made. Both of which are on the more powerful side. So, like everyone else said, feel free to use whatever you come up with. I like to think of this thread as a place to try them out honestly. Not to mention, we don't usually have all that much combat on this thread, so i don't think any over powered weapons can really break the thread lol. I'll add the stats for the Flamburge and the Emerald Blade for anyone who is curious.
Darklis' Flamburge (Haven't came up with an official name yet)
Flamburge: 3 Charges every short rest Attack: Blade splits into six shards hitting up to six creatures within a 15 ft circle or a 20 ft arc. Damage: dex save 16 On failed: 1d8 piercing + 1d6 force and pushed back 5 ft. On save: 1d6 force damage and pushed back 5 ft
Shield: Reaction Blade breaks apart sending the shards spiraling around the user in a 15 ft sphere creating a shield of pure energy. This protects any creature within the 15 ft radius and lasts up to 3 mins. Blocks all non-magical damage. Halves magical damage. Does not protect against psychic damage.
The Emerald Blade Appearance: This sword looks fragile but has razor sharp edges. Appears to be make entirely of emerald. Will change form to match the user’s choice sword. Abilities: (it’s so sharp you can cut yourself by just looking at it!) Any enemy who starts their turn after you will take 3d6 psychic damage. Attacks made with this weapon will deal 1d6 slashing + 1d10 psychic damage. Bonus action: choose one target per round to take an extra 1d6 psychic damage. Target must succeed a constitution saving throw of 17 or take full damage.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Oh boy I missed a lot. Welcome, Semako! I'm the DM for this room. I don't mind homebrew feats, items, or weapons, as long as they're not obviously OP. Just use common sense, I guess, and you'll be ok!
Feel free to introduce Arthilas with whatever entrance you choose, just keep in mind the rest of the party is locked in battle with a three-headed Basilisk. Escape from the dreamscape, fall from the sky, come in from a portal of holy light riding a magic hoverboard... whatever you want. Zuli (Aroc_of_Eaf), Darklis (Rynn_Elocin), and Clementine (plopped123) are nowhere to be seen, but since your character is new I guess you don't have to worry about that. I'll set the scene for you after you introduce yourself!)
Clementine:
I probably should've been more concise with this, but the void extends in all directions BUT the floor. Both gravity and the floor exist. Idk if that'll change what you'd like to do, but yea.
Anyways you wander around and in the distance you see a big floating thing. It's too far away for you to see what it is, though.
Zuli:
I'll add this, because of what Clementine said she'd do with her last action: the void extends in all directions BUT the floor. Both gravity and the floor exist.
It's too high up for you to reach it. But you notice that whatever direction you jump at it from, it's always facing you.
Darklis:
I'll add this, because of what Clementine said she'd do with her last action: the void extends in all directions BUT the floor. Both gravity and the floor exist.
It's too high up for you to investigate it closely. But you notice that whatever direction you jump at it from, it's always facing you. You recognize the pendant as the pendant from the previous dreamscape.
Agnomally, yes the shield is gone. The basilisk roars in pain as you zap it, extra hard, again. Seeing the shield is gone, it lunges and tries to snap at you again. Because of the movement your second zap misses. To Hit: 26 Piercing Damage: 13
Basilisk WIS save: 14

Though your first attack bounces off the Basilisk's leathery hide like a bouncy ball, Verdell, it freezes mid-movement at your command. Startled, and with enough momentum to crash through a wall of solid concrete, it falls off-balance and hits the floor with a boom. It's now prone.

(Oh and since we're all sharing our homebrew weapons and magic items, I'll add the only homebrew weapon I've created. I bet you can't find it! Ha!)
Lily-of-the-Valley Darts and Mechanized Blowgun:
A mechanical blowgun made through years of (normal) tinkering. First shared project made by Sheerow [one of my characters] and her mentor/adoptive mother, Elro. It works like a smaller version of a blowgun, but it's hidden as the lily-of-the-valley brooch she always wears. Its stem is curved, and when a small hidden button on its side is pressed, it straightens out and turns hollow enough to shoot darts from. The flowers are also 5 miniscule darts in disguise, laced with just a tiny amount of the essence of the Lily-of-the-Valley plant to cause a non-lethal form of cardiac arrhythmia, causing those affected to fall unconscious for a short period of time due to an irregular/slowed heartbeat.

Nice, my homebrew is decent but I’m not in love with any of them, not enough to post. Some of my homebrew monsters are ok, but you have to dig through a whole bunch of garbage to get there.

Yeah I’m loving the emerald blade. It’s Clementines only magic item!
other than some miscellaneous body parts from magic creatures… if that counts
