Fair point, but that’s 1. Out of one vote 2. Out of fear of death. It’s quite possible that you did recognize that voting gonz out would run the risk of taking you and your buddies out, but you didn’t want that. My guess is that you realized that not voting gonz would seem a little off to everyone else, and put you on the sus list

It depends on what game. Some use majority (over half), some use plurality (most votes). This game is plurality.
Either way mafia win if they're half the town because then they can all vote 1 person and things are a tie at best.
