like yes, but no. That's a little dramatic. People come and go, and often return now and then. I leave for months sometimes, but yet I am here. The reality is that most people are not leaving forever never to be seen again. (ofc some people are leaving for a very long time or forever, but to say everyone is leaving isn't necessarily true)

And mafia isn't really active as of now and I wouldn't be surprised if it dies again after the game, this would just be for fun.

Ik mafia's dead but I had an idea around April to host a really"simple"game. Either no special or custom roles, or only revealing people's faction on death (mafia or town). Moon (not MoonWatcher for the new people, a different Moon who isn't on anymore) tried the latter in the very first mafia game way back when but it ended prematurely and nobody actually died except jester. And mafia isn't really active as of now and I wouldn't be surprised if it dies again after the game, this would just be for fun.

The big problem is that people aren't invested enough, when they aren't the mafia they don't feel like its as important they pay attention. So they log on, they read it, but I don't think many of the townsfolk actually think that much about the game. Meanwhile the mafia are invested since they got a special role. You might say, well then we should keep special roles, but if everyone gets a special role then its way too confusing and its a sort of "everyone's special so no one is" scenario. 2 - 4 is what I consider the best amount of roles on the towns side
Its the same problem with playing Among Us in public servers, sometimes the only people who are speaking are the impostors. If you ask the crewmates they'll literally tell you they're watching YT or doing something else. Basically no attention to the game randomly vote when they hear the emergency meeting noise. It sort of ruins the entire game, and hence you have to play with your friends if you want players who are actually playing the game. (Some might just have an IQ of 2 though)
On top of all this, there's generally at least 2 mafia, so if other people aren't talking that much they can basically just control the whole narrative with ease.
I really like mafia, but its very hard to do time sensitive things on the D&D forums.
(Not saying you shouldn't do it, but like these problems would need to be remedied)
Hiyaaaaa whoever is reading this! I'm Yondor, and this is gonna be a moderately long post. At least for me idk. Might post this in multiple places on the forums too, we'll see.
I haven't been active in quite some time now so I don't expect many to remember or even know who I am, which is perfectly fine. Adds more mysterious aura to myself oooo. I'm essentially saying a goodbye. Yep, you heard that right. GOODBYE. I'm not dying (I hope), I'm just entering a new chapter of my life. I'm growing up from original Yondor, young teenage me, to current Yondor (slightly older teenage me lol). But why post this, not many people are gonna care much in reality. Well, I'm just gonna explain where I'm going and gonna try to thank some folks.
(Spoiler just because this includes a couple of my personal beliefs that I'm perfectly comfy with sharing, I just know some folks don't associate with like religion stuff so I wanted to respect that. Basically things relating to why I'm leaving.)
I'm moving out! And I'm going on a 2 year adventure. Let me explain a big part of my life that will provide more info so this makes sense. I'm LDS! I'm Mormon, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (lovely long title I know). Many titles for us. For anyone completely unaware of this faith, it's a "nontrinitarian restorationist Christian denomination", pretty accurate and short description I pulled from Wikipedia there. One thing people can do in my church is go on an LDS mission, which is what I'm doing in 13 days! On a mission, you are called to serve for 2 years (1.5 years if you are female) in a place that could really be anywhere in the world. Your goals include spreading the gospel and serving. This is something that is like wayyy important to me. Also if anyone has a question about this or something about the church totally PM me!
But yeah. I'm going to Bolivia btw. Pretty WILD for a mid-western American kid like me, and I'm excited to begin. Spanish will be nice to learn as well.
I'll actually just try and stop yappin once I extend some gratitude. Firstly thank you to the entirety of LCW cuz this was my birthplace on da forums, and so many fantastic people welcomed me there. I'm actually thinking that I'm not gonna name and thank specific people, but y'all know who you are. I just don't wanna forget anyone yk XD. Not that I'd forget, I have the perfect memory of a sage cmon now..
Thanks for my beginnings at the TST. That ship has always held a special place in my memories and forever will.
