Also, ran a session and was a bit surprised by a lack of caution from my players.
First they get to the hideout and find the windows have kobolds hiding in them trying to lay a trap. Then they see the entrance had caltrops hidden under a cloth. One doorway had a bucket rigged to fall. Another had reskinned Redbrand Ruffians laying in wait. One room had barrels being shoved at people. The kitchen had kobolds lying in wait to throw ball bearings and pots at people.
No sense of caution building. Nothing whatsoever. I'm kind of worried for them when they go into the downstairs because the idea was to have small traps laid about so that they'd get clued in to be cautious about other traps going further. And now that they've expended a lot of resources, it's going to be concerning if they just fall for the gelatinous cube pitfall the hideout has.

3/5 party members were petrified by a medusa, and the last two ran. They had successfully killed or made enemies with just about anybody with the Greater Restoration spell.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft and Forgotten Realms. My pronouns are she/they.
I like reading and writing too, but I’m not much of an artist.

I'm gonna start a FATE game set in a homebrew world since I'm done with OotA.
It's gonna be heavily inspired by Darkest Dungeon II, Baroque, and OFF. All (or most) player characters are not actually alive, being either constructs left behind by humanity to suffer in the polluted hellscape or undead that are not allowed to die until they fix their mistakes. Actual humans, as opposed to Spectres or Grotesques, are virtually nonexistent.
The focus of the game, at least to start with, will be the starting town. It will start as an abandoned estate with no food or people, but during expeditions, the party will be able to collect resources and clear out space to create new structures. These structures will provide many benefits, from extra ways to prepare food to additional classes (there will be no levels in this class system, just straight buffs to the character's abilities).

I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.

I already eat enough sugar to rot an actual deity away into a scrap of black, unrecognizable substance. My teeth will be fine.
