Imagine a sort of ragnarok tavern, at the edge of the world. An arctic bar in a land of swords and ice for dragir, those who died in battle, and both gods and demigods. The bartender is a sort of Fenris wolf god character. May be featuring some version of the Norns.

Yo, I’m Himy, He/Him. I enjoy reading books, understanding why and how things work, anime/manga, video games and obviously, TTRPGS. I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I like to think Im close. I’m good at trivia, history and science
I struggle with empathy. If you’re not sure what I mean by that, it basically means it’s hard for me to understand the mental state of others and respond with the right emotions

What excites you about a character? Do you look at mechanics and think "Oooh, this could be an interesting build." Or are you more of "Oh yeah, I'm gonna be a sassy half-elf. So what mechanics should fit that personality?"
For me, the characters I'm interested in playing are built mechanics-first with personality added on in the process. Because as the old saying goes, flavor is free. So may as well get the interesting mechanics first.
I just make your average character and build on personality as I go. First char was a perfectly normal wood elf rogue, now he’s a stacked with magic items wood elf rogue with a pet immortal rat, magical deer, frog, and jellyfish. He has an incredibly dark past and multiple identities.
