when the star was still forming it was basically a dark abyss in itself -- we would have little bursts of light here and there but for the most part is was just cold and dim and really quite gloomy. Hm, now that I think of it, that's probably why my allergies are so bad because im used to having it cold and dry and not warm and humid. my memory is a bit hazy but if you ever have questions about what it was like back then I'd be more than happy to provide you with answers :)
