Okay, you look inside the pot and it is completely empty. However, you notice that when you opened the pot, the foul smell in the room seemed to lessen for just a moment.
Speaking of which, you all start to cough as the foul odour claws at your lungs. When you look at your hands, you appear to be coughing up blood. The odour worsens.
Shitake mushrooms there's gas in the room. I run to the door and throw it open.
You have two options - you turn around and run flat into the wall behind you where you thought there was a door, or you arrive at the stone door to find the bars are still slowly grinding their way open - the door won't budge, yet.
Jerry lights a match. You know, to test if the gas is flammable.
Jerry has to stifle his disappointment as the room fails to turn into a second conflagration.
Everybody continues to cough as the smell worsens. At this point, you start taking an arbitrary amount of poison damage - I'll tell you if it kills you!

Rapidly opening and closing one of the large pots, you find the smell fluctuates as the pot is opened and closed. Your arm quickly tires of lifting the stone lid, which is about the size of a dustbin lid. as you put the lid down for the last time, the smell continues to assault your nostrils.
We need to try a combination of open and closed pots. Jerry tries it ASAP!
edit: do we still have three lives? Is that still a rule? We did all die when I exploded us, but we should all have two lives left. (Except Tiamat)
I will leave you wondering on the 3 lives thing ;)
Jerry spends some time opening and closing pots. With every pot he opens, the smell briefly diminishes for him before returning. No combination seems to have any notable effect on the room - every pot behaves the same, briefly getting rid of the smell for you as you open it, before the smell washes back in.
The door continues to slowly grind its way unlocked. You all cough up some more blood. it's clear that by the time the door can be opened, you won't be able to open it.

Noooooo! We’re doomed! I’d this was ment to be a puzzle, we failed.
Jerry curls up on the ground in resigned panic, attempting to comfort himself by folding his magazine into an origami gnome and setting it alight - only to find that the producers of "Arsonists Anonymous" had considered this and reinforced the magazine with a spell to make it non-flammable.

Jerry will weep softly and start eating his origami gnome.
I would like to say at this point, when Jerry is eating his gnome, and we are all gonna die, again, I love this game.
Farewell.
