Southhaven, a small settlement deep in the Anvil. You and yours have met here once again to join each other in adventure. There was a time you were inseparable. What followed was a period of separate ways with the promise that one day you’d unite once again.
And here you are. Together at the The Faded Maple Tavern.
Yet, one could wish it were under better circumstances. There are whispers of death and worse. Dark shapes seem to rule the night once again. Rumors spread of entire cities overrun by things that spill out from below. Refugees from the West speak of blood and evil. In the middle of it all, fear drives kingdoms to all out war.
But that is for another night. Tonight, there is drink and company; stories and laughter.
About this game:
Anvil of Gods is a open-ended campaign for two or more players. We'll be building the world together through our conversations and exploring in-game with your characters. Your actions will shape the events of the game and where it goes. Our story will focus on your characters. If you're interested in this game, please be willing to be creative. There will be times I disclaim decision-making about the world and will kick it to players to decide.
Characters start at level 1. Build them with standard point buy or the standard array. Options from any officially printed material are allowed. No third-party material will be allowed.
I am interested in joining your campaign. I shall be able to contribute by staying consistent with posts, whatever guidelines you'd like to set, as in frequency of posting I shall try to adhere as best I can.
Whatever dangers await in the Anvil Thene is ready
This idea sounds pretty fun, I was so happy to write this character, I think she could be an interesting addition in a campaign shaped by the party, here is the character sheet:
I can put a resume of the backstory in case it's needed, but seeing no one done it so far, I was a bit skeptical to do anything too hastily.
Edit:
Here is the background:
Elery was born in a minor noble family, and she had a really happy childhood, with parents and siblings that were supportive, just as the multiple friends she made. Since the earlier times of her life, her family already knew she had some sort of innate magical capacity, and she was accepted this way, most people thought it was something positive.
Just a few months before the story starts, though, she's on her early adult age, and her parents prepared some travel equipment, and sent her out of the city, without explaining anything, and she ventured out by herself, with no objective in mind, maybe using this to discover some about the origin of her magical powers, she maintained some conection with her mother, trading letters, but otherwise, pretty alone, until she met this group.
A lot of this can still be worked on, but that's the basics of what I have for this character in my mind. If we have to meet twice, like the initial thread suggests, my idea is that she found them the first time almost as soon as she started traveling, and that encounter I wrote in the backstory was the second one, where the story starts.
A D&D thief in the most classical sense, Roz was able to steal her way out of abject poverty thanks to her small size and pickpocketing skills. Somewhere down the line, though, she robbed the wrong person: the son of a corrupt noble. While she was able to elude capture, they knew her face, so she had to escape, and change her name.
Though she has enough to get by now, Roz still steals whenever and whatever she can, treating it like a game. If you are her friend, your material possessions are (probably) safe. She hasn't exactly learned a lesson from her last experience, other than "If I have to, I can just change my name and move again."
Keeping the backstory vague specifically so blanks can be filled in later depending on how the worldbuilding goes. Right now I have her as a worshipper of Brandobaris, but if we go with an original pantheon, I can change the god/come up with something.
Looks like there are eight that wish to play, which is awesome. Normally I don't think I accept to many, but I think we can make it work and have fun with it. Sit tight, everyone, and I'll put the thread together today.

If anything needs to be changed for the world let me know, tried to keep things fairly vague.
Looks great.
So, all the characters posted look good. We have a few clerics, a few sorcerers, and a couple of rogues. All of which are fantastic because they still feel very different. Can't wait to see how you write them. For those that haven't rolled a character, play whatever you want, of course, but the party could use a front-line warrior-type: Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin, etc.
Oh man. Super didn’t notice that mine was the second lightfoot halfling rogue—with the same picture no less! I can totally switch my character up a bit after work.
I have added some backstory to my characters profile, please let me know if its too much/little. Willing to make any changes necessary for the theme of the game.

I mean, we could just be identical twins. I'd have to change her backstory to make it fit, but I don't mind!
Hey, Rashek, it's a bit counter-intuitive, I know, but you're the only one who can see backstory put in your character's profile. That's why most people put their backstory in the thread when they make their characters, along with the character sheet, because it's impossible to see it inside the sheet if you don't own the character.

Let's do that! Want to portmanteau the last names? Cawhorn?

His original clan and home destroyed by dragon hunters Rills egg was taken and sold to a temple as homage to the goddess Umberlee for safe passage across the sea. His egg at first was to be used as a powerful sacrifice, the priest summoned the power of a storm to crack his egg and spill its contents, but in a cruel twist of fate the summoned lightning destroyed parts of the temple killing many of the lesser acolytes.
Rill was raised in the rebuilt temple. After many years of servitude he awoke one day after a fitful nights sleep, in his dreams a voice whispered to him of his origins and the head priests wishes to try and sacrifice him to the sea a second time. Upon learning this he flew into a terrible rage calling forth all the power given to him by his goddess he destroyed the acolytes save one who escaped. Rill then summoned a terrible wave to swallow the temple whole. He fled for many months, he ran fearing associated temples or even the lordsof the tempest themselves would seek retribution for his actions, after many months he longed to be by the sea again, as if called he returned to the rocky and jagged cliffs he grew up on, and on top of them he built a small monument for prayer to his god.

I didn't realize this either so I'll post my characters backstory here as well.
Myra grew up in an orphanage. She never knew her parents, just the caretakers who never really 'cared'. Maybe they forgot about that part of the job description. When she was 15 she discovered her powers. A black mark appeared on her hand, and wind, rain, and lightning bent to her will. Many feared her for this, and she was even kicked out of the orphanage, but a captain offered her a place on her ship, The Blackheart. Myra gladly accepted her offer and ended up becoming the navigator on the ship, using her magic to help speed the ship along the waves. Six months ago the Blackheart and another ship, the Silverwind, both attacked a large merchant ship. Their was an uneasy truce between the two ships, until the merchant ship was crippled. Then, before they could react, the Silverwind's captain turned on the Blackheart, and sunk it, leaving Myra and the crew for dead.
Should we figure out how all our characters know each other since this will be a reunion for them all?

Oh, I didn't know that either! I was wondering why you had said no one else had shared one.
Might not post mine yet though, in case NBDM wants to take up my offer on being twins.
Let's do that! Want to portmanteau the last names? Cawhorn?
Thank you, i had no idea.
