How will greatness find you? You start as a character in the trading city of Daggerford, a medium-sized town in the southern part of the Sword Coast. Please provide a paragraph or two with your background story. Here are some questions for you to consider and answer as we prepare to begin our adventure!
What did you do before you became an adventurer? What is your Background?
Do you still have a connection or obligation to this group/background? Feel free to tie in to one of the well-known businesses or guilds, or create your own.
Can you fit your class to a role in the community? For example, you might be the tavern minstrel who studied as a Bard, a fighter who is an officer in the local militia, or the local herbalist at the edge of town having Alchemist training.
Are you from Daggerford?
If yes, we’ll work to align your family, background, and friends into your backstory.
If not, where did you come from, and how long have you been here?
How do you know the other characters?
Are you related to any of them?
Do you share a secret with any of the party members? What is it and who knows about it?
How did you meet?
What are your dreams and aspirations?
What is one thing you are known for in town?

I am an insanely talented musician; my raw emotions tend to rub folks the wrong way. I have been dealing with this my whole life. My emotional highs and lows tend to lead me into hot water. I often overcome these challenges with wit, laughter but more regularly with my music. I have a knack for writing catchy hooks, and my musical arrangements are often spectacular and well received.
Life in Daggerford was good, but my inspiration to create was waning. Being the main composer in my trio this became a very difficult challenge for us (myself, Elwood and Lurch, the power trio). To seek out new inspiration I began to adventure. Currently, I am on a hiatus from our trio as I find my inspiration. Once I find my inspiration again, it will be time to hang up the weapons and get back to the real life of raising spirits and tapping into feelings with my notes and voice.
Growing up in Daggerford and being as talented as I am, I am a pseudo popular public figure. It is a bit difficult for me to hide in a crowd. I am not close with my family. They saw my potential as being much more than a musician. One of the ulterior motives to this adventuring is to make my family respect me, which is something I feel I am still trying to earn. This is an odd motivation as I am trying to impress people I am not really that fond of.
In regard to the party I am pretty certain if anyone in the group is from Daggerford and have been in a tavern more than twice, they will have heard of me.
Fit Class…. I am still waiting on my character class before I decide what my tie in will be to the local area. As a bard it is an easy fit, the other option could be a fighter in which I could weave a workable tie in. Again, just waiting to see what the other folks will be.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Star Sunflower and I am a middle-aged wood elf. I am the youngest of six in a simple family who make their living growing wildflowers from which to make wine. Living in Daggerford for the last 100 years has allowed me to join the Winemakers Guild and help feed my large family, who lives where I grew up outside of the town walls in a small village a day’s travel away.
I am quite skilled in acrobatics and hold gymnastics lessons for the human children of Daggerford once a week outside of the castle. I get great joy in seeing their efforts, and the small fees I collect go mostly to living expenses and sharing a good mead with members of the Beer Makers Guild.
Because I favor the town tavern, I’m friendly with the musician named Hendrixson. Members of the Guilds constantly urge me to join in the World Games representing Daggerford in the Gymnastics Competition, but I am reluctant as I prefer to lead a simple, quiet life. Having said that, Hendrixson has convinced me to see a bit more of the world with him and do a bit of adventuring. I’m selling as much wine as I can and avoiding spending money in the tavern so I can send a good amount of money to my family to hold them over while I’m exploring around.
Hey there, my name is Fawn! I'm a 127 year old elf, and my favorite thing to do is trick people and gamble. I have four other elf sisters and we all made sure to know how to gamble and get our way out of anything with the power of trickery. I've lived in Daggerford my whole life, but a previous mistake has caused some changes in my day to day lifestyle. I gamble and take up a lot of jobs so that I can support my family and still pay everyone I'm supposed to.
One of the skills that I have is being able to find out everyone's secrets, even just from a single conversation with them. If you have a secret you don't want me to find out, I would recommend staying as far from me as possible. I find happiness in making others uncomfortable, and I love it when I succeed in making someone squirm.
I try and keep to myself for private reasons, but I met Star Sunflower and a very popular musician, Edward Vaughan Hendrixson, on one of my daily trips through Daggerford. I tried staying away from them, and focus on making it big as a gambler, but I always found myself coming back to them. I gamble as much as I can, and gain as much money as I can so that I can live a good, wealthy life. It is impossible for anyone to beat me at a game of cards.
Hello, my name is Syllin. I'm a 20-year-old Half-Elf and have lived in Daggerford my whole life. I grew up at Lathander's Temple; the priests there took me in when I was a baby. I don't know anything about my parents, other than the fact that they aren't from Daggerford and they left me at the temple soon after I was born. I typically stay at the temple all day, prefering to stay and read scrolls rather than socializing with other people. As such, I've haven't met the other characters before.
Recently, I have received a message from Lathander, god of renewal and rebirth, calling me to become a cleric. After receiving this calling, I decided to get into adventuring, allowing me to meet the other characters. Some might consider this a chance meeting, but I don't. The gods have placed us all together for reason. I don't know the reason, but I'm sure we'll find it out in our quests.
I dream to one day be worthy of the call placed on me by Lathander and to honor him as much as I can. I also want to find out more about my family and to help other people. I don't know what I'm known for in Daggerford, since I stay at the temple all day, but I think I'm known for being religious and how I help everyone I meet as much as I can.
It's a cool evening in the frontier town of Daggerford, but it's warm and cozy at the Lady Luck tavern (#17 on the map). It is a night like many others you have spent here...a young human woman playing a set of pipes on the small stage in one corner, a medium fire burning in the fireplace and throwing off both a comfortable heat and some light to complement the many torches and candles spread around the common room, a handful of patrons spread out in small groups. You are enjoying your dinner, with some friends or perhaps on your own, when you hear a blood-curdling scream and crashing crockery coming from the kitchen area. The tavern instantly goes still and silent as everybody looks around.
In the space of two breaths, one of the servers comes stumbling out of the door from the kitchen, blood running down his leg and a look of terror on his face. "Somebody...please...help Misha. She's still down in the cellar with those...things!"
"This this buffoonery better be legit as it is interrupting such a fine performance from this young lass in this perfectly peaceful setting." As I stand and walk purposefully towards the cellar saying "There will a steep price to pay if one hair on Misha's head is harmed. I pause briefly and look over the crowed giving an inspiration look of encouragement for others to join me in this task stating "Who is with me?" and continue toward the cellar. Rapier is being drawn
Owenden, the proprietor, rushes to the lad and checks him over. He grabs a bottle of a pale amber liquor and splashes some on the open wound before wrapping a clean linen rag around it. When Edward strides towards the kitchen and the steps leading down to the cellar, Owenden nods in thanks before returning his attention to the wounded boy in front of him. "I've got Jacob - I would be obliged if you were to check on Misha and see what is happening down there. Maybe grab a friend or two, just in case..."
It’s not really my nature to rush into chaos, especially when there is blood. When I agreed to go “adventuring” with Hendrickson, I didn’t expect it to start in our favorite tavern with “things” in the basement! I place my hand on my rapier but stay at my table for the moment.
I've always been one to rush into chaos, as there is always a good adventure out there. For the first few moments after the server rushed in though, I stayed at the table with Star, watching everything around me before making the decision to follow Edward. I keep my distance behind him, but it is very difficult, as I am dying of excitement to see what has happened to Misha in the cellar with 'those things'!

Edward and Fawn take one last look around the common room before heading through the kitchen and down the wooden steps into the root cellar.
There are two lanterns hung on brackets to provide light in this 20' x 20' earthen room, full of stocks and supplies for the tavern. In the middle of the room, lying in a pool of blood, is a halfling girl you recognize as one of the kitchen hands. By the back wall, however, you see what caused all of this commotion - 2 giant centipedes! They clack their powerful jaws together in warning before rushing at you! (Roll Initiative! Go ahead and post your action, too and I'll put everything in the right order tonight or tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving!!)

I shout, "I see some furry friends want to ride the wave"
I would like to cast Thunderwave when the centipedes are within the 15 foot cube as long as this does not injure the halfling girl further. This spell does 2d8 and pushes the creatures 10 feet away from me. They take half damage if they make a save versus spell If the spell will do damage to the halfling I will attack the nearest centipede my spell save dc is 12.

(Thunderwave would indeed affect the unconscious girl, and Fawn, and all of the supplies stacked close by...For the individual attack, are you using the rapier? If it's a spell, which one? Just want to understand your attack and damage rolls. Thanks!)
The two centipedes rush forward, their legs undulating as they move and their powerful mandibles attempting to bite the two would-be heroes!
C1 attack on Edward: Attack: 18 Damage: 4
C2 attack on Fawn: Attack: 13 Damage: 4
(If the centipede hits you, make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or take an additional 2 poison damage.)
Edward thinks about introducing the insects to a new magic spell he created based on a fast-paced tune he heard a few months ago - a bard spell he likes to call "Thunderstruck" - but decides against possibly destroying everything in the cellar, hurting Misha and the elf who came down with him, and instead attempts to (stab?) the critter. But the creature's hard chitin shell deflects the attack!
Fawn - you're up!
(Anyone else coming down? If so, you'll enter combat next turn. Go ahead and roll initiative if you're coming!)
I'm too curious to stay in place any longer so I head downstairs and move into the room far enough so I'm not at the base of the stairs. I see the hairy beast close to my friend, Edward, and feel compelled to shoot my shortbow at him!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I was startled when the boy had arrived. When I see Star Sunflower go downstairs, I began to go downstairs as well and see Fawn being attacked by a centipede. I move to her and attack the creature with my mace.
Sorry, so sorry! I move from the corner of the room towards the centipedes. If they're causing all this trouble, I want to do something about it! I pull my one of my short swords out and attack the centipede that is closest to me.
Round 1: 22-Centipedes(-0/-0) -- 11-Edward(-0 hp) -- 9-Fawn(-0 hp) In retaliation for the bite, Fawn expertly slices the centipede and kills it (you still need to make a successful DC 11 Constitution saving throw or take an additional 4 points of damage...)
Coming down the steps, Star rapidly sizes up the situation and shoots the other centipede in the head, ending the immediate threat! With both bugs dead (and possibly Fawn knocked out by the poisonous bite), what do you do next? The halfling girl lies unmoving on the ground. This is a 20'x20' earthen cellar with shelves of supplies, barrels of brandy and ale and apples, and sacks full of flour and dried meats and vegetables.
