A gloom stalker ranger gains Umbral site. The rules state the said ranger is invisible to creatures relying on dark vision to see it. Does this apply to combat in darkness?
Ok. I just watched a YouTube video from D&D Beyond about the gloom stalker ranger which answered my question. The gloom stalker is terrifying in darkness to creatures that are normally at home in darkness. The gloom stalker is invisible in darkness to creatures that use dark vision to see in the dark. If a gloom stalker is silent, he/she is undetectable by dark vision in darkness.
That is their home territory, they thrive in darkness against those that rely upon it.
