Yo, people. I just wanted to reach out and ask, what is your favorite D&D book? Besides the PB, DMG and MM, what is your favorite extra material book and why?
Probably Xanathar's, just because of the sheer variety and quality of the content. It's useful to everyone. Oh, and the corny jokes are definitely a point in its favor.

Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. I loved reading the long lore stories in the first half of the book, and the stat blocks in the second are so interesting.

If we're not limited to 5E, then Faces Of Evil: The Fiends. One of the best Planescape sourcebooks ever written.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
I pick four as I'm a cheat and want one for core rules, adventures, supplements, and sourcebooks:
The Player's Handbook - Old, and just the best book for D&D in all counts
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything - Beautiful art, quotes, and ideas
Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden - Best art of any D&D sourcebook, and brilliant adventure
Explorer's Guide to Wildemount - The most personal of D&D books, it feels like a gift to the player
