I have seen some discourse about maybe Psion means we're getting Darksun, which I think is a pipe dream. But Psionics is vital to Eberron. the idea that it's not in that book alongside Artificer seems crazy to me. Where are they going to release it if not Eberrron?
Since they don't mention it in the marketplace entry for the new Eberron book, it's a safe bet that it's not in there.
Also, they already have Eberron for 5e without a psionic class, so clearly it's not required, and whatever the setting's psionic needs are, they'll probably be handled like they were before.
Nope. The Psion that was play tested wasn’t close to book ready. It will either get another round of play test, drop in a book that comes out in 2026 with almost no corrections, or just die in a UA corner like the Mystic.
Psi Warrior and Soulknife are the only purely "Psionic" subclasses, and will be, the only 2024 subclasses available to PCs. A Great Old One Warlock and Aberrant Sorcerer can also be considered "Psionic" since they add psychic elements to an arcane caster. Having these four actually puts Forge of the Artificer in a better place in regards to Psionics since Aberrant Sorcerers were not an option when Rising from the Last War was released.
Mind Flayers have magic resistance and Spellcasting. You can also see the changes to the Kalashtar here. They are mostly unchanged from 2019. Psionics in 5e are generally just spells that affect the mind. There is no real distinction between psionics and magic like there was in D&D 3.x. If I read your mind, I am still just casting [spells]Detect Thoughts[spells].
The Faerun books might (but probably won't) include another Psionic subclass, but, if so, the Forge of the Artificer will not include any reference to it. Eberron: Rising from the Last War released and didn't introduce Psionic subclasses. Artificers are vital to Eberron, Psionics are not.
