You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to slashing damage.
When you attack a creature that has at least one head with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, you cut off one of the creature's heads. The creature dies if it can't survive without the lost head. A creature is immune to this effect if it is immune to slashing damage, doesn't have or need a head, has legendary actions, or the GM decides that the creature is too big for its head to be cut off with this weapon. Such a creature instead takes an extra 6d8 slashing damage from the hit.
Applicable Weapons:
| Name | Type | Damage | Properties |
|---|---|---|---|
| Greatsword | Martial Melee | 2d6 + 3 slashing | Heavy, two-handed |
| Longsword | Martial Melee | 1d8 + 3 slashing | Versatile (1d10) |
| Scimitar | Martial Melee | 1d6 + 3 slashing | Finesse, light |
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat

Posted Feb 2, 2025It stays a 6d8.
It simply is the effect of the sword, it's not something that varies

Posted Apr 13, 2026Also (assuming your DM will allow a stabbing action as Piercing Damage) a Level 1 Grung Paladin with the Soldier feat can cast Wrathful Smite as a bonus action and then stab the sword into a creature. They not only get advantage, but are allowed a reroll of the damage. 2 chances to get a Nat20 for the decapitation, and dealing 2d4+3d6+STR (2d4 because of the poison dipping coming into play with piercing damage). Then at Level 2 you can actually drop the 1d6 and Wrathful Smite on a turn for a Divine Smite, instead dealing 2d4+2d6+2d8+STR damage. God I love massacring stuff with my frog
