Ooze Cube. The cube takes up its entire space. Other creatures can enter the space, but a creature that does so is subjected to the cube's Engulf and has disadvantage on the saving throw.
Creatures inside the cube can be seen but have total cover.
A creature within 5 feet of the cube can take an action to pull a creature or object out of the cube. Doing so requires a successful DC 12 Strength check, and the creature making the attempt takes 10 (3d6) acid damage.
The cube can hold only one Large creature or up to four Medium or smaller creatures inside it at a time.
Transparent. Even when the cube is in plain sight, it takes a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check to spot a cube that has neither moved nor attacked. A creature that tries to enter the cube's space while unaware of the cube is surprised by the cube.
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) acid damage.
Engulf. The cube moves up to its speed. While doing so, it can enter Large or smaller creatures' spaces. Whenever the cube enters a creature's space, the creature must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw.
On a successful save, the creature can choose to be pushed 5 feet back or to the side of the cube. A creature that chooses not to be pushed suffers the consequences of a failed saving throw.
On a failed save, the cube enters the creature's space, and the creature takes 10 (3d6) acid damage and is engulfed. The engulfed creature can't breathe, is restrained, and takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the cube's turns. When the cube moves, the engulfed creature moves with it.
An engulfed creature can try to escape by taking an action to make a DC 12 Strength check. On a success, the creature escapes and enters a space of its choice within 5 feet of the cube.
A classic
So if you enter the cube you do not die and have full cover, also if you willingly enter it you can breath? I'm confused help please.
You would have full cover, as any attack would have to hit the cube before it hits you. You cannot breathe, whether or not it is willingly entered, which would be a really bad idea. Cover doesn't matter, since the cube will be doing a lot more damage than it would with its normal attacks.
Engulf: "[...]The engulfed creature can't breathe, is restrained, and takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the cube's turns"
Thank you very much.
"The cube can hold only one Large creature or up to four Medium or smaller creatures inside it at a time."
If I'm ever in a party of 5 medium or small creatures that meets a cube, and the other 4 are in the cube, I'm def jumping in.
My campaign is going to have an entire temple dedicated to these
Where do you see the creature's initiative.
Dexterity modifier
Thanks
Can a full heavy plated warforged be ok inside the cube or is anything inside takes acid damage no matter if you are a construct or other race?
This thing almost killed a party member, and it was my first ever session. how we lives is beyond me
if you willingly enter it... you still cant breath, its just like being engulfed regularly
depends on if you have resistance or immunity to acid damage. if you do, then your fine against this
Warforged would survive (They are really magical objects, yes?). There are threads out there discussing warforged using gelatinous cubes as mounts.
A mount with a base movement of 15. I guess enough warforged mounted would be scary .. but you could just jog around them...
Imagine being lost in a cave, when you hear a squish. You light your torch and look around. You see a cube that looks like it's made of Tarrasque-Brand Jell-O (My own thing I made up), but with bones inside it. It creeps toward you as you back away. You trip, and your foot is stuck under a big rock. You scream for help as the cube absorb you. You try to rip it open from inside, but you fail. The last thing you see, is the cave, blotted out from the blue of the Gelatinous Cube.
How do you defeat this mole?
How would a cube act in water? I can't find any good resources. Curious if they would be able to move around in, or if they would just float. Thank you in advance.
Very easily, actually. DC 12 is pretty low. This is the weakest gelatinous cube in the history of gelatinous cubes.
If a sword or some artifact is trapped in and I want my players to retrieve the item, upon defeating it would the cube just crumble like a bad science experiment?
