Keen Senses. The pseudodragon has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight, hearing, or smell.
Magic Resistance. The pseudodragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Limited Telepathy. The pseudodragon can magically communicate simple ideas, emotions, and images telepathically with any creature within 100 feet of it that can understand a language.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.
Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 hour. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the target falls unconscious for the same duration, or until it takes damage or another creature uses an action to shake it awake.
Or with the Ranger Beast Master archetype
Doing a one shot where the players are all creatures instead of humanoids. I’m playing a psuedodragon along side two adult dragons and a griffon. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Is it just me or does this kind of meh compared with other options for pact of the chain warlocks?
yes, yes it does.
one dose no such thing, one partners with a pesudodragon, treating it as a dumb animal or pet will drive them away
My DM just let me buy one at a wizards college
if your a warlock you can just make one your pet instantly at I believe level three using your pact boon, free mini dragon because yes.
I have one of those as my familiar
I will feed one cheese
I had one as a familiar back in the 80's. I named him Sussudio, in honor of Phil Collins.
He was actually a cross between a pseudodragon and a cockatrice. His sting turned to stone instead of poisoning. (I was an ELO fan too).
the perfect meat shield >:D
Im 4 years late but a pact of the chain warlock can have one as a familiar so have fun if you still want to
cute, good boi
My DM has our 6 member party starting at level 3 and he's letting me get this little guy at the start. Also I have named him MARVIN!
In previous editions the sting paralized you. Concious but muscles stiff and positionable. Breathing shallow and heart beat slowed like living death.
I still want these as a playable race.
Are you able to add this creature to a warlocks character sheet? and is if so how?
I’d let my beast master rangers have one
great for an sidekick
I like it
So, to recap on this amazing stat block:
While it has low strength for obvious reasons, the rest of its stats are either average or amazing, with most excelling far beyond that of the average human. It has advantage against saving throws of all magical effects, and although it can't speak, it has telepathy of a ridiculous range, arguably making it better at communication than things that can actually talk. It traverses on land at half the speed of a human, but flies twice as fast as one, meaning that it'll probably be in the air about 90% of the time. It doesn't exactly stand out on the sheet, but it has blindsight of 10ft and darkvision rivaling that of humanoid creatures, and the Keen Senses ability, which is very good. Despite it not seeming menacing, it does a minimum of 3 damage, can poison you, and can make you unconscious all in one attack, and once again, this is a tiny creature that can travel 60 feet in a single turn. its AC is really good for lower levels, but horrible later on, and its AC is the same; I recommend buffing it if you can, perhaps ask the DM for some pseudodragon armor or some magic to boost it a bit.
Other than its somewhat noticeable weaknesses, it's amazing, and I definitely recommend bringing up the creature with your DM to see if you could get one, because they're adorable little playful flying poison cats with the intelligence of a human and that's awesome.
