Antimagic Susceptibility. The armor is incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the armor must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.
False Appearance. While the armor remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal suit of armor.
Actions
Multiattack. The armor makes two melee attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) bludgeoning damage.
Description
This suit of magically animated plate armor clamors as it moves, banging and grinding like the vengeful spirit of a fallen knight.
Of note, Animated Armor can make TWO "Slam" attacks each turn, one after another.
Please amend this entry, and many other 'construct' entries, to be findable in the advanced filter settings when you select 'construct' under 'Monster Tags'. Only constructs form Mordenkainen's currently appear now in the search.
If used in conjunction with Demon Armor (Plate): +5 to hit. 1d8+3 (8) Slashing or Bludgeoning
What happens when you put it on
You can't.. Not when it's still a construct, that is.
But in my campaign I didn't mind my players to gather pieces of still usable armor after the fight, repair it and gather themselves a full plate armor in the process.
It would be funny to see someone put it on and then the armor moves on it's own and the rest of the party has to destroy it but the one wearing it keeps having to make constitution saving throughs
Feel free to add an encounter like this in your adventure.
I must admit I'm curious to the results...
Now I just need to convince my GM that It is my find/found familiar and my transmuter wizard is ready for the campaign.
Nice try :D but construct is not animal
But think of all the Fullmetal Alchemist jokes I can make!
Idk, I ve not seen :S
Is animated armor typically considered a creature? My DM says animated objects like armor and swords dont count as creatures in turn making all my offensive spells useless against them since they specifically say "creatures" in the damage description...
Technically, all things with a creature type are creatures
The Monster Manual disagrees with your DM... Senior Wizards staff have also confirmed this. Constructs, like literally anything listed in the Monster Manual, are a type of creature.
I know it is CR 1 with a number of immunities, but wouldn’t it make sense for animated armor to have resistance to slashing and piercing damage and vulnerability to bludgeon damage?
I thought of an epic upgrade for this: what if the armor grabs on to the nearest humanoid and forces them to attack the nearby allies
um what happen if you destroy it
It gets too damaged to keep itself together or be used as armor. Turns to scrap metal
Great idea.
Mechanically, I’d count that as grappled, with the rug of smothering’s “damage transference” trait.
Animated armor wielding a flying sword.
