I would love it if they'd gift a little one-shot - perhaps holiday themed. Or some encounters -- like the ones that James Haeck used to write for the blog which were so wonderful. And the best thing about them, is they would often have NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH PLUGGING A PRODUCT that WOTC wants us to buy. They were stand alone pieces that were just for fun, and that made me think that D&D Beyond actually cared about their customers and supporters. Not costly, and has the benefit of generating so much more goodwill than this "buy more stuff from us" garbage.
I loved those older style blog posts, and would sometimes go back to them for reference. Sadly, they've removed the ability to even find those old posts from their menus, which is a shame - it's some of the best free content they've produced here imho. What once seemed like a gift of appreciation now just feels like a constant stream of advertisements. Icky.
I don't know if it was on last year's or not, but it was definitely on the year before because, according to the date stamp, I downloaded it Dec. 9, 2021.
Hasbro definitely doesn't know what their audience wants. First we get like 20 coupons, now it's coloring books stuff and pintables for kids. Can't we just get better Beyond content like dice or a one-shot, or hell even discounts on official books? I don't know about everyone else, but I'd prefer a 25%-30% discount on campaign modules over a discounted toaster.
Worst part is, they actually did include discounted books in the original calendar. It got leaked, and they removed all the discount codes for their books and replaced them with more off-site licensed junk.
So far so good. Thank you for the festive fun.
This whole calendar feels like a cash grab... very underwhelmed by it. You guys could've released individual holiday monsters or a christmas themed item or even just a damn digital dice set but instead it just feels like watching ads on a mobile game
What's particularly silly is they did, in fact, release an introductory one-shot adventure in December, but didn't put anything of the sort on the calendar... https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1625-peril-in-pinebrook-a-free-introductory-adventure
Glad I went back and saved those DDB blog article pages just in case. Same with the entire old map archive that WotC used to have on their page. I figured they wouldn't be up forever.
However, WotC didn't make Peril in Pinebrook. It's made by an education group that licensed stuff from WotC to create stuff for classrooms. https://ymiclassroom.com/lesson-plans/dd/ check into A Field Guide to Dragons.
It absolutely blows the official new introductory "Intro to Stormwreck" adventure out of the water. Likely why they wanted to bring attention to it on DnDB, make it seem like WotC made it and released it.
Here's the working URL for the Peril in Pinebrook adventure: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1625-peril-in-pinebrook-a-free-introductory-adventure
Thank you for this, I didn't even know this existed!
I find it kinda funny that if they don't like a comment even if it's legitimate criticism, they take them down...
They would need to take 95% of these down.
They took one of mine already, they're not going ham at it to not be obvious but there are comments missing, noticed some others, I had tabs saved on which the comments were and they're gone now.
It is highly unlikely they would know your religious beliefs.
Many people drink, and claim to like, coffee. I personally do not and cannot stand its foul stench.
Reposting this for others! Thank you everyone for sharing!! Happy Holidays!!

That link is returning "Internal Server Error" and a picture of a beholder when I click it. I'm not sure if they've taken Peril in Pinebrook down, or whether there's some other issue at work here that's preventing it from loading. It seems unlikely there's anything wrong with the link itself, since the error message certainly suggests that DDB recognizes what I'm trying to access and simply cannot deliver it from their servers for some reason; it's notably not returning a 404 or anything like that.

Unfortunately, history clearly shows that there's no point in inquiring whether Peril in Pinebrook has been taken down, since they won't respond (at least not in any useful, meaningful manner - and likely not at all). I've tried asking such questions enough times, lol. Definition of insanity and whatnot.
The worse thing is that this comes in the midst of all those WotC staff members getting laid off by Hasbro. It really doesn't foster a desire to spend money on a company that's this soulless to its employees. And all this calendar is, is just coupons and pseudo-ads...? I mean good lord.
