Posted Dec 15, 2023This took me literally 20 minutes. It's disappointing that Hasbro couldn't be bothered to let some unpaid intern write something like this for each day. Ah well, onto the magic item!
Wish-box
Wonderous Item, Very Rare
It is unknown where this mysterious magical box came from (some believe it to be a blessing from a benevolent god of luck, others think it to be a dreadful curse left behind by a god of chaos) but it is renowned amongst charlatans and scholars a like. This ordinary wooden box is carved with wonderous scenes of good fortune, and magical wonder. There is a small button on top of the box, which, when pressed down on, activates a small contraption, causing the box to open, revealing a much larger (around 1ft by 1ft) space within. Once per day, when you speak the name of a single mundane object less than 1ft by 1ft in space, while pressing down on the button, a typical and plain version of that object will appear inside of the box. Asking for money or other items directly associated with wealth (ie: gold bars, items created for the sake of simply selling them, etc.) will cause the box will spring to life, becoming a Mimic, that immediately attacks the one who wished for would be wealthy character. When defeated, the box's ruined remains swirl into a flurry of powdered snow, sailing high into the air to find it's next fortunate (or perhaps unfortunate) master.

Posted Dec 15, 2023Discount codes this close to Christmas are too little too late. I miss the years before the site was bought out. We'd get a new character frame here, new digital dice there, backgrounds, etc... A free module or something as a "big" thing near the end. The code for stuff in that mobile game was at least an acceptable thing. And the sheet music was something different at least. But discount codes always just feel awkward unless it's something you were looking to buy already... Just give us literal garbage but make it free lol. A few discount codes are okay but this is too many unless they're all stacked at the beginning.

Posted Dec 16, 2023100% agree. Literally all codes so far except for one, which was nice musical notes. Even though not everyone is going to be using the sheets to play music, at least it's good fun and some Bards (or Players) at the table may attempt to play it. The fact it's ALL codes otherwise feels really bad, leaving a bad taste in people's mouths. This is not Christmas Spirit it's just Black Friday but the whole month.

Posted Dec 16, 2023Agreed in a sense, leaves a bad taste that an advent calendar is mostly a soured experience so far, I hope one of these days will be something like a free adventure with a few new holiday themed items and creatures, (hopefully). Though I find it unlikely they would ever give me a holiday themed firearm, any holiday themed items I can give players/my characters would be very pleasant for at least a bit, hopefully in the future tabs there's a few to even out this.... Sales for majority of the month. I'd be surprised if they even gave us a holiday spirit subclass of some sort, like the dnd equivalent of Santa, (Given what the setting is) as a type of warlock that takes notes on peoples' desires in a nice way, and eventually sends the notes to their patron.

Posted Dec 16, 2023Being 'nice' has nothing to do with it. They're attempting to get you to hand over money that you otherwise wouldn't have handed over. The 'something' they're giving you is trash and calling it a 'gift'. So yes actually, they could have just given us nothing and it would have been better than this.

Posted Dec 16, 2023I haven't been able to make either code (DNDBEYOND23 from 12/12/23 or BEYONDGEMS from 12/16/23) for dndmini.com work.
I have used them both separately, because they can't be combined, but dndmini.com doesn't recognize either of them as valid codes.
I emailed customer support at dndmini.com to notify them, but, given the track record of customer support at dndmini.com, we may be well into 2024's Adventure Calendar before they respond.
Wack.

This dice set is one of my favorites. My friends and I call them the “meat dice” because of the sound they make when you roll them, it’s so strange but so funny
