Depending on what levels of the City of Towers an inquisitive agency focuses on, its members might get involved in very different sorts of investigations. Lower Sharn means poor clients and lawless streets. Middle Sharn means merchant rivalries and better pay. Upper Sharn means uncovering the secrets hidden behind the veneer of respectability. See the “ Sharn Neighborhoods ” section later in this…

The following areas are found on the Dead Man’s Hand map.
The characters may travel to Murkwater Bend of their own volition, but this adventure starts with Adela Druskenvald seeking the characters’ help after her bad deal with Mister Crossroads.
A murky grove grows through a shattered chamber open to the outside. A waterfall pours through the collapsed ceiling and into the misty bog. Butterflies flit through the branches of trees draped in moss and vines, and frogs croak and chirp among the snaking roots. Natural deterioration has transformed this former Feywild garden into a bog, and three Green Hags (see above) now lair here. When…
Unbearably warm. Brimstone and wood odor. This room, meticulously maintained by its inhabitant’s servants, features an enormous, well-appointed bed over which hangs a massive painting of a mountain scene. An open jar sits atop a small chest resting against the wall. This richly decorated chamber feels unnaturally warm and has an odor mixing brimstone and sandalwood. The bed and furnishings are…
The ground beneath you grows sodden and foul-smelling, and before you rises a looming wall of cypress and tupelo trees, their branches reaching out like skeletal fingers, casting long shadows over the murky, stagnant waters beyond. The path forward is treacherous, choked by overgrown plants, flooded with stretches of black water, and surrounded by the teeming wildlife and lurking monsters that…
A Measure of Debt. If the party played A Measure of Debt and did not turn the gems over to Onaivu, or if the party failed, Chase does everything in his power to avoid speaking with them, clearly frustrated. If pressed too much, he will excuse himself from his shift as tears begin to well. We Are Family. Chase considers characters bearing the We Are Family mark of prestige part of his patchwork…

While the primary purpose of this scene is to reveal more about the dagger and the kobolds, another major goal is to give the characters a chance to explore Quickstone and meet some of the people and factions that have made a home there. Ideally, the characters should discover the following key facts:

An enclosed, ring-shaped tank hangs over a deep saltwater pool. Agney stands on a platform in the pool’s centre, shielded by the tank. The pool connects directly to the sea; this was how the Water Elemental was caught and how it can escape.
When you’re ready to begin the adventure, read or paraphrase the following: A long voyage has brought you to Nightwater Cove. The town of Promise rises from the shore, its brightly painted buildings a welcome sight. The vessel docks, allowing you and the other passengers to disembark. The bustling harbor town rests on the southern coast of Godsbreath, a region known for its agriculture. Sadly,…
Brightly lit. Austere and stark. Sharp and pungent smell. A raised bed made of stone and covered with furs—the only apparent furniture here—stands against the far wall of this chamber. A lingering odor indicates the staff has recently cleaned here. Light shines from a hemisphere fastened to the ceiling. Katlaug’s quarters look formal and devoid of personal touches. When not attending the moot,…
CN male (he/him) human (Oeridian/Flan) Chase is broad-shouldered for a teen, with a streak of stubbornness that sometimes borders on recklessness. His skin is a warm, medium-brown, and his dark hair is cropped short. His clothes are ragged but well-mended, and he carries a battered shortsword as if for comfort as much as protection. Quick to pick a fight when cornered, he’s fiercely loyal to…
