The inner bailey offers the following service: Weapon Upgrade. The keep ordered too many crossbows, which untrained recruits can’t wield effectively. Shannik wants to trade the weapons for simpler ones. In exchange for 25 GP and a Shortbow, he can provide a character with a Hand Crossbow.

The sheltered inner bailey is where the keep’s defenders live and practice combat drills. When the characters arrive at the inner bailey, read the following boxed text aloud: Targets and practice dummies dot this courtyard, which contains a large stable and poles with hanging rings. Cavalry soldiers train atop horseback while guards watch the area from the walls and towers that rise around it. A…

A widespread cult of the Dragon Below believes that there is a paradise within Khyber, a place free from suffering and death. The Vale of the Inner Sun does exist, and it has the Stillness of Flesh property of Risia and the Light of Life property of Irian. However, there is a price to this immortality; creatures who dwell in the Vale for an extended time become slowly mutated, eventually…

Only bold traders bring goods to the Borderlands. When the characters arrive at the shop, read the following boxed text aloud: Awnings extend over weapon racks and armor stands at this trader’s shop. Inside, a tall human woman polishes a suit of armor with an oily rag. The woman is Oleira, the shop’s owner. The trader’s shop is a family business. She runs it with her two teenage sons, Derlo and…

Adventurers don’t have to go beyond Eberron to find strange and magical realms. A layer of stone and soil lies beneath the surface of Eberron, and those who delve below may find natural caverns, subterranean ruins of Dhakaani goblinoids, or the realm of the dwarves of Sol Udar. But there’s more to Khyber than rock and mud. The underdark contains countless demiplanes—pockets of space where the…

“The crimson boat appears sturdy and has plenty of nets and fishing equipment visible on deck.” The Sandpiper is difficult to locate, as it is moored at the far end of the docks. It is only accessible by traversing a rotting pier. The ship is eerily quiet and the acrid stench of a Sea Hag lingers on board. A trail of filthy brine and pieces of rotten seaweed can be found on deck, leading to the…

“Muddy water coats the walls and forms puddles on the dirty, wooden floor. Barnacles and seaweed seem to have quickly claimed the interior of this once tidy vessel.” The boat’s new residents have littered the interior with magical traps, fish bones and slimy kelp. Frith’s six Sahuagin Warrior minions are scouring the hold for valuables, and will attack if discovered.

An enclosed, ring-shaped tank hangs over a deep saltwater pool. Agney stands on a platform in the pool’s centre, shielded by the tank. The pool connects directly to the sea; this was how the Water Elemental was caught and how it can escape.

Korth is approximately 960 miles away from where the Recluse was attacked. The characters must navigate their airship to its intended destination if they have any hopes of arriving before their supplies run out. This section references the rules and guidance in the “Journeys in the Skies” section of chapter 7 of Eberron: Forge of the Artificer.

The Recluse has lost all but 100 pounds of food and 100 gallons of water. As the journey progresses, see the rules for dehydration and malnutrition in the Player’s Handbook if the crew risks running out of supplies.

The Kech Shaarat are the largest of the Keeper clans. Founded by the Warlord of the South in the final days of the empire, the Shaarat possess an Artifact known as Skai Shaarat—the Great Blade—a sword handed down from warlord to warlord since the days of the Six Kings. While they lack the exotic specialties of the other clans, the Kech Shaarat excel at war. The deep vault of the Kech Shaarat is…

Under Dhakaani tradition, the golin’dar—goblins—are traditionally laborers and artisans. While the guul’dar and ghaal’dar train for war, the golin’dar maintain the hearth. But there is a force that stands outside this tradition, lurking in the shadows of the Dhakaani Empire. These are the Khesh’dar—the Silent Folk—golin’dar who use their speed and cunning as spies, scouts, and assassins. While…

The Inner Planes surround the Material Plane and its echoes, providing the raw elemental substance from which all worlds were made. The four Elemental Planes—Air, Earth, Fire, and Water—form a ring around the Material Plane. The border regions between these planes are sometimes described as distinct planes in their own right: the Para-elemental Planes. These realms exemplify the physical essence…

You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. As a Bonus Action, you can use a command word to magically reshape it into any kind of Melee weapon with which you’re proficient that doesn’t have the Heavy or Reach property. When you hit a…

The Upper Planes are the home of Celestials. The Lower Planes are the home of Fiends. The planes in between host their own unique denizens: for example, modrons are Constructs that inhabit Mechanus, and slaadi are Aberrations that thrive in Limbo. As with the Elemental Planes, one can imagine the perceptible part of the Outer Planes as a border region, while extensive spiritual regions lie beyond…

Questing knights travel in pursuit of a cause, such as slaying a villain, defeating a monster, recovering an Artifact, or restoring their lost honor.

“Clo-bi-oh-don” (Cage tooth) This whole area was filled with lil’ fish-snatching pterosaurs. They kept their distance from us – I guess they’re used to being plucked off of the ground by small predators. Still, beautiful creatures to see flyin’ and fascinatin’ to observe perchin’ on rocks. They fed by flyin’ low over the water and quickly dippin’ their heads in, nabbin’ unaware fish. Nifty stuff.…

Smaller than a drakkar, a skeid, or “slider,” is still large enough to carry dozens of crew members, passengers, supplies and treasure. This warship is also amongst the fastest of the longboats, matched only by the smaller snekkja.

In nearly all cases, the power that is proposing a Dark Bargain is uninterested in negotiating the duration or eventual cost of this gift. However, there may be extenuating circumstances. There could be roleplaying scenarios or simply the current events in the adventure’s narrative that could cause the power to briefly—briefly!—consider negotiating. The GM has the final say on whether a given…

Klobiodon was a near-shore hunter, eating fish, squid, and other surface-dwelling aquatic prey. Groups would likely congregate around the edges of seas, lagoons, and estuaries to nest or socialise. They would have been skittish if surprised but may have been willing to mob threats that entered their territory. We recommend Klobiodon be played in a similar manner to modern herring gulls, albeit…

The overlords—Rak Tulkhesh, Sul Khatesh, and others—are said to be Khyber ’s first children. They were the first fiends to physically manifest, and each overlord brought forth a host of lesser fiends. When a fiend dies, its essence returns to Khyber. Each one is bound to and reincarnated within a particular demiplane within Khyber—the heart of an overlord. This is one reason the overlords can’t…
