Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids who are members of the Circle of the Phoenix commune with elders who have, one way or another, encountered a phoenix and lived to tell about it. Their dedication to each other and further exploration of the mystical avian have granted them access to the powers of flight, fire and rebirth in ways other circles couldn't ever imagine.

Take Flight

When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a bonus action, rather than as an action.

Additionally, the rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into aviary forms. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a beast with a flying speed.

Circle Spells

You have formed a mystical bond with the spirit of the Phoenix, a primal being of destruction and rebirth. Your link with this spirit grants you access to certain spells. At 2nd level, you learn the fire bolt cantrip.

When you reach certain levels in this class, you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of the Phoenix Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.

Form of the Phoenix

Starting at 6th level, you can gain access to a new wild shape form, that of a magical Phoenix. This form allows you to cast spells you have prepared for the day. You substitute various noises and gestures for the normal verbal and somatic components of a spell.

You can also use any material components or focuses you possess, even if such items are melded within your current form. This feat does not permit the use of magic items while you are in a form that could not ordinarily use them, and you do not gain the ability to speak while using Phoenix Form.

You initially take the form of a Phoenix Chick; at 12th level, you take the form of a Young Phoenix; and at 18th level, you take the form of an Adult Phoenix.

Born of Flame

At 10th level, your connection to the Phoenix grows more powerful. You gain resistance to fire damage. While in Phoenix form, you gain immunity to fire damage.

Resurget Cineberus

By 14th level, the connection between you and the Phoenix is exceptionally strong. It's most notable feature is now your own. When you die, you explode. Each creature within 30-feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell DC, taking 4d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The fire ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t worn or carried.

When the flames subside, you arise with half your total HP. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
