Oh I like that idea, slightly less clicking as it takes two clicks for every level you want to put in right now. Just had to do that for spell selection on a PbP where I can add spells from two levels.

This has probably already been mentioned, but the spell search seems like it could use some work from a user standpoint. It doesn't always return desired results. For instance, I just tried searching for Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion a few different ways. Entering "mord" (because mordenkainen isn't the easiest thing to spell without a book) returned Mordenkainen's Sword and I think some ward. "Mansion" returned the correct spell, but titled "magnificent mansion." So it may just be a title/keyword thing. To me, typing "mord" or "mordenkainen" should return all the spells from the PHB associated with that word. This is just an ease of use thing... often it isn't easy to remember the exact name or spelling (of a spell or ability) and it would be nice if the search feature was a bit more forgiving.
I love the look, layout, and overall functionality of the site though. I think it shows a ton of potential.
For the Mordenkainen thing, this is just because the spells here are from the SRD and Basic Rules and some "famous" name, like Mordenkainen, have the copyright. This happens also for Acid Arrow, for example. When the PHB will be released, these names will be available.
Didn't saw a post on this, so would it be possible to remember the filters I set. It is too easy to lose the filters I set, for example by trying to go backward by clicking a link, or via back-button. It would be also nice if the screen updates if new filter is added, such as cantrip for spell level. Finally, I don't mind scrolling, so all spells could be on one page. Some of these things could be user preferences, which can be saved to the profile (e.g. showing all spells vs 10 spells per page).
So far loving the layout! Super clean and usable on mobile.
Would it be possible to modify the AJAX calls so that they don't require a page reload when a user selects a different main-list item (class)? It would be great for the function to be able to fill the spell <ul> without reloading the whole site every time, perhaps just show a loading gif of some sort. Would save on the amount of data transferred too (*wink wink*).
Just a thought. Fantastic start to the spell listings you all, GREAT WORK devs!!
Constant postbacks when interacting with a web UI is pretty anti-social behaviour. I actually came here JUST to post about it--glad someone else already did.
I will add that the majority of my usage of the reference materials would be at a table with a tablet/mobile device. The postbacks really don't play nicely there. Additionally, when on a mobile platform, it was pretty unclear that the buttons across the top were toggles (i.e. that you could turn on multiples of them). It made the results I was seeing a bit unclear.
Ditto & Ditto. Most players will have smartphones or tablets rather than laptops during a game and the spell reference will be one of the most used features. If performance can't easily be improved then at least remembering the last chosen class would help. Once a spell book is available this won't be as big an issue but as of now I'm not likely to use it in preference to other SRD resources.
Not sure if this has been posted already (forum is lengthy) but I noticed several 1st-level Warlock spells missing: Arms of Hadar, Armor of Agathys, Hex, and Witch Bolt. Could have missing ones for other classes/levels, too.
Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the later stages, especially what you build for PC generation.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available in the D&D 5th edition SRD and D&D 5th edition Basic Rules and will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.

I'd like it if it were a bit more obvious which spells have a material component with a cost, other than small italic text that nobody's ever gonna read. I find that it's very easy to not notice that there's a cost on something. Did you guys know you need diamond dust for stoneskin?
Also amazing work guys, I love what you've got so far ❤
It would be real handy if the tags in each Spell could be clicked, and take the user to a filter for all spells with that label.
So if I am reading the Alarm spell, I could say: "hey! let's see all other detection spells" and check if there is some other spell that suits me better
Can you make the Spell Level dropdown on the Spells page filter by checkmarks, so we can see spells from multiple selected levels (ie 1-5 & 7)?
Good idea! I'll pass this on to staff!

Oh okay I see, my bad I did not see the bit about it only being the basic and srd books.
I noticed Hex is not in the list of spells. Is it not in the SRD or am I just dumb?

Ah okay. Thank you for the explanation!
Suggestion: Add "duration" field as an advanced filter for spell search/list.
Enjoying the beta very much!

Spells wish list that should be tied to the character sheet. A full searchable feature example; Class, V, S, M, Casting Time, and by Level.
Blade Ward doesn't appear when filtering the Sorcerer's spells
Indeed.

Compared to the phb looks like some of the spells are missing for some classes
