I'm guessing by now we all know about DDB's plan to replace the current 5.0 spells with 5.5 spells. For those that wish to continue using 5.0 spells, the solution offered by DDB is "homebrew it you want it." I tested this out with a cleric of mine, Drako Blitz. Dragonborn Tempest Domain. First I had gone through the spell list copying the spells I own. I prefaced each with Zacchaeus'. So Thunderwave would become Zacchaeus' Thunderwave. Shatter would become Zacchaeus' Shatter and so on.

I also homebrew-copied the Tempest Domain subclass, renaming it to Zenobius' Tempest Domain.

When I made Zenobius' Tempest Domain I also made sure its domain spells were all the Zacchaeus' versions of the domain spells.

I enabled homebrew content on Drako Blitz's character and changed his divine domain from Tempest Domain to Zenobius' Tempest Domain.

None of the domain spells showed up. He's level 3 so he should've had Zacchaeus' Fog Cloud, Zacchaeus' Thunderwave, Zacchaeus' Gust of Wind, and Zacchaeus' Shatter showing up in his spells. None of them did.

For the record, actively prepared spells did show up. So I was able to replace Bless from his prepared spells with Zacchaeus' Bless which works mechanically perfectly.

I did check my Zacchaeus' Shatter, Gust of Wind, Fog Cloud, and Thunderwave and in the "Available for Class(es)" box Zenobius' Tempest Domain was listed.

For the ease of access of any DDB staff trying to double-check what was done, here are the links for my (private due to the similarity of official content) homebrew copies.

It is completely unacceptable for DDB to be removing the current spells when the proposed solution does not even work for major use cases. How am I supposed to use homebrew copies of my purchased content when I cannot even add the spells I need to my characters?

Are those spells in your homebrew collection?

You probably need to edit those homebrewed spells so in the available for box it lists your homebrewed Tempest domain. In your homebrewed tempest domain you will want to add your homebrewed spells to the Additional Spells box on its main page. 

Domain spells are funky because they are not added through a subclass feature but rather via the available for / additional spells boxes. It's kinda clunky.

My Zacchaeus' versions show up in the Zenobius' additonal spells. And when I edit my Zacchaeus' I can see the Zenobius' domain listed.

Here is the available for classes box of Zacchaeus' Shatter that shows Zenobius' Tempest Domain. I did check for the Zacchaeus' Fog Cloud, Thunderwave, and Gust of wind that they include it too.

Zenobius' Tempest Domain does not show up if I view the spell, but it is there in the edit view.

So I went through the steps to make the hombrew copies of the spells and tempest domain and get the domain spells working. It worked so see if you can compare the steps you took with the steps I took and see what was different?

Also, I'm not 100% all there coz my brain and my tummy are being rebellious so apologies if I seem extra weird.

There's two differences I'd say I did.

1: I made the homebrew spells first. So when I made my copy of the Tempest Domain it listed both Fog Cloud and Zacchaeus' Fog Cloud and so on.

2: Whereas you made the spells and manually entered your Test Tempest Domain, I actually found that added automatically after I'd created Zenobius' Tempest Domain.

So two things are coming to mind.

1: I'm thinking that perhaps something screwy happened by the automatic adds. And maybe if I go in and delete/reenter that'll change. I've gotta sleep, but I'll get an update to you when I try that.

2: I would like to know if your homebrew copies stay on the character sheet if you refresh the page. I've had a similar issue to this when helping a friend that with Bear Totem Barb (he didn't own it so I was changing his subclass as DM.) At one point I tried to use a feat (based and Druid Ritual Caster) to put a ritual Beast Sense in his spell list. It would show up initially but then if you refreshed the page it would stop. So I'd like to confirm the spells you got working are stable in showing up.

Finally got around to testing it. Turns out that deleting all the homebrew spells from the list of additional spells and saving the homebrew subclass followed then re-adding them again and saving was enough to fix it.

Ends up that DDB decided to reverse course on the impetus for this, but I am glad to have learned this.
